NBA 2023: Nikola Vucevic, a forward/centre with the Chicago Bulls, was dismissed from Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Vucevic was dismissed from the game after receiving two technical fouls at the end of the second quarter.
Officials disqualified Nikola Vucevic in the second quarter after a strong start by the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls’ big man threw his hands in the air and yelled at referee Sean Corbin after fouling LeBron James. After that, Corbin called a technical foul on Vucevic as he headed back to the Bulls’ bench.
Vucevic was ejected from the game after receiving a technical foul for continuing to converse with the Bulls’ bench during a timeout. The Montenegrin centre ended his 15 minutes on the court with four points (2/5 FG, 0/1 3PT), two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. In 815 games played, he was just the second player to be dismissed twice.
On Friday, Vucevic logged 30 minutes and contributed 23 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists in a rout of the Trail Blazers. LeBron James came back to the court on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles after missing a month with a foot ailment.
Bulls center Nikola Vucevic was ejected just before halftime in the game between Lakers and Bulls
The Lakers could not pull off the victory despite this. The Chicago Bulls easily defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 118-108, in Chicago’s Crypto.com Arena. The victory was the Bulls’ sixth in their past nine outings.
Last month, James suffered a foot injury after taking a nasty fall while playing against the Dallas Mavericks. During the game, James said that he had torn a tendon in his right foot and that two physicians had advised him to have season-ending surgery. After being treated by the “LeBron James of feet,” though, James recovered “faster than they’ve ever seen.”
On Sunday, James did something he’d only done twice before in his whole career: he came off the bench. Once before, in 2007–08, he did it while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. As James checked in at Crypto.com Arena around the middle of the first quarter, he was met with a thunderous standing ovation.
The chalk throw at the scorer’s table was still a focus of his attention. James scored 19 points to lead the squad. He also grabbed eight boards and dished out three assists in 30 minutes. He made 6 of 11 shots overall and 2 of 2 from beyond the arc.
In the defeat, Dennis Schroder scored 17 points and dished out four assists, while Troy Brown scored 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.
