AC Milan Has Come Up With An Offer For The £100,000-Per-Week Chelsea Player

Calciomercatoweb reports that AC Milan is interested in signing former Inter Milan player Mateo Kovacic. The 29-year-old, who is now under contract with Chelsea for €9 million per year, may leave the club during the forthcoming transfer window. The Serie A giants may make a move to sign him.

Kovacic first gained widespread attention during his time at Inter Milan. His outstanding play earned him a transfer to Real Madrid. The 29-year-old did have a major role at the Bernabeu. However, he was not a regular starter.

In the summer of 2018, he was sent on loan to Chelsea. After a successful loan stint, the Blues opted to make the Croatian international’s transfer permanent the following summer, signing him to a €9 million-per-year deal. Kovacic’s career has flourished ever since he joined Chelsea. He has consistently been the backbone of their squad. The 29-year-old has played in 36 games this season, assisting on four goals.

Despite the fact that the Blues have added a number of midfielders in recent transfer windows, the Croatian international is still a crucial cog in their machine. However, he will no longer be under contract with the team after the summer of 2024. And with his contract expiring in a little over a year, he may be looking for a new job by the end of the summer.

And former Inter Milan footballer Paolo Maldini thinks he can assist them, too.

The Chelsea midfielder will be a great addition to AC Milan. However, his present salary is close to €9 million each season. Milan simply cannot afford to pay him that much. However, the pay might be stretched out over a longer period of time to seal the deal. That’s why it’s exciting to see whether Milan can sign him before the start of the next season.
