Arsenal Newsnow: If Kieran Tierney, at age 25, decides he wants a fresh challenge this summer, Arsenal may listen to bids for him
Arsenal Newsnow: James Benge of the CBS podcast House of Champions reports that Kieran Tierney may leave Arsenal this summer for a new challenge. Even so, the Gunners will consider bids provided they match certain requirements. Mikel Arteta’s reign as Arsenal’s coach has been nothing short of revolutionary. The team’s recent success has helped them maintain their lead in the league. By defeating Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United on Sunday at the Emirates, the Gunners reestablished a five-point lead at the top.
Oleksandr Zinchenko, who joined the team in the summer from champions Manchester City, was a standout in that match. Ukrainian international Oleksandr Turchynov has defined a new position for Arsenal from left back. Thus giving the club greater control and the fluidity that Arteta covets.

Arsenal Newsnow: What’s the report?
Zinchenko’s ascent in Arteta’s system has had the unintended consequence of relegating Kieran Tierney to the bench. Even before the advent of the Ukrainian utility man, the Scottish international was a mainstay at Arsenal. He was widely regarded as an important cog in the machine.
Tierney reportedly turned down offers to sign with Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to stay at Arsenal. Manchester City, looking for a new left-back after losing Zinchenko, also gave him some attention.

Also, in a few pivotal games this season, Arteta moved right-back Tekehiro Tomiyasu to the left side of the defence. Tierney, while physically capable and accessible, may have been put off by the notion. But like the Japanese national, the 25-year-old ace had proven indispensable in the last stages of contests.
Tierney reportedly wants to get more playing time and may explore his alternatives this summer. Tomiyasu can also play left-back if needed. Ivan Fresneda, now of Mexico U-20 fame, is in Arsenal’s sights as a potential new right-back. Consequently, if the 25-year-old star leaves, they may take their time finding a replacement for the left-back position since they have so many other possibilities at the fullback position.
What’s next for Tierney?
Arteta is pleased with his two left-back options, Zinchenko and Tierney. Although Arsenal has no plans to sell its 25-year-old star player, they also won’t try to stop him from leaving if he wants to try something different. There is sure to be a scramble among the elite clubs for his services if he ever becomes available.
Two English clubs, Newcastle United and Manchester City, have previously shown interest in the Scottish international. As long as the offer satisfies Arsenal’s appraisals and other requirements, the club will consider it. In the summer, they may become reluctant to sell Tierney to a competitor. But a large enough offer might convince them to do so.
