According to reports, Arsenal is very interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan. The Guardian reports that the Gunners have their sights set on signing Simakan this summer to improve their defensive options. He is typically used in the middle of the defense but can also play right back.
His youth and adaptability make him a potential contributor to Mikel Arteta’s squad
The Frenchman moved to Leipzig from Strasbourg in the summer of 2021. He has since played in 75 games for the club, contributing four goals and nine assists. At the conclusion of the season, he will still have four years remaining on his contract at the Red Bull Arena.
Consequently, it would not be surprising if Leipzig asked for a lot of money for Simakan. His youth and adaptability make him a potential contributor to Mikel Arteta’s squad. The Gunners rely on their central defenders, William Saliba, Rob Holding, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Jakub Kiwior.
However, since around the middle of March, Saliba has been out with a back injury. Holding has had trouble maintaining his high level of play. New Zealand defender Kiwior has been outstanding in recent games. Arteta’s right-back options Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu can also play central defence.

Joe Willock has said that he made the permanent move to Newcastle United from Arsenal because he felt underappreciated at the Emirates
If Simakan isn’t certain of regular playing time, he may not be convinced to leave Leipzig for north London. When healthy and available, neither Gabriel nor Saliba have shown any reason to be benched. Joe Willock has said that he made the permanent move to Newcastle United from Arsenal because he felt underappreciated at the Emirates.
This Gunners player graduated from Hale End Academy in 2004 and worked his way up to the first squad. In spite of making only 40 career starts for the club, he will spend the second half of the 2020–21 season on loan at Newcastle.

Willock was offered a permanent position with the Magpies at the conclusion of the season. Despite his allegiance to Arsenal, he made the decision easily.
Reflecting on the summer of 2021, Willock recently told the Daily Telegraph, via Metro: “We had loads of conversations on the phone that summer. I wasn’t valued at Arsenal, that became clear. When I had a meeting with them, it was obvious they wanted me to go. Yeah, it hurt. I would probably have drifted for another year had I stayed. I’d been there since I was four-and-a-half years old. I’d given my life to Arsenal.”
Willock, at age 23, has emerged as an integral member of Eddie Howe’s revolution on Tyneside. So far this season, he has played in 33 of Newcastle’s 34 league games, contributing six goals.
