Arsenal News: 3 Reasons Why Timothy Castagne Can Be A Better Signing Than Joao Cancelo

Arsenal Has Given Mikel Arteta A HUGE REWARD Ahead Of The 2023-24 Season - Check Out

Arsenal News: The Gunners are in the market at present in the hunt for a full-back. There are multiple options to choose from, with manager Mikel Arteta looking to add more quality to his current squad. With that being said, two names have popped up in recent times. And though both options look decent enough to be added to the squad, there are some pros and cons of the signings.

The two names in consideration are Timothy Castagne and Joao Cancelo. Both players are clearly open to leaving their current clubs for different reasons. And Arsenal is keen on capitalize on the situation and get the player they want.

Arsenal News: Timothy Castagne Could Be A Better Option For Arsenal Than Joao Cancelo!?

Well, with both players interested in a move away, the Gunners have a choice. They can sign either of the two players. But which one is the better one!?

Fans are constantly comparing the two and looking to find the better choice. While that debate is going on, Mikel Arteta will be thinking and planning for the long-term. And getting either player and utilizing him well, will be the goal.

Arsenal News: However, We Have Found 3 Reasons Why Castagne Would Be A Better Buy!!

Money Matters!!

Arsenal have quite a few signings to make if they want to improve their squad depth. They need to add midfielders and a potential striker to their squad to ensure that they win some titles in the upcoming weeks. With that being said, signing a full-back is not their priority and the budget that they would have would be a limited one for such a signing.

Now, where Leicester City would expect somewhere around the £15m to £20m mark, Manchester City will want at least double of that amount (about £45m). So, the choice in these terms seems to be an easy one. If Zinchenko and Ben White are going to be the first choice, then it only makes sense to spend less on a backup player.

Preference Of Clubs And Easier To Buy

In a recent report, it was suggested that Cancelo prefers to go to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. However, there has been no real solid offer for his services from either La Liga side as of now. With that being said, Arsenal is not his preferred choice at this point in time. Also, Manchester City will be reluctant to sell to the Gunners after seeing what happened in the previous season.

The League title nearly went down to the wire. And if not for the North London outfit losing some crucial points from time to time, it could have been all over for the Cityzens. With that being said, a purchase of Castagne seems more easy. Leicester City got relegated last season and will want to offload their ageing stars.

If that is the case, not just Castagne, but a lot of other top players could leave. And there is no direct rivalry between the clubs now. And the latest Arsenal news suggests that this could benefit Mikel Arteta and co.

Better Attitude And Team Player

Arsenal needs a backup full-back. Zinchenko and Tierney are already present on the left (unless the latter leaves). And Ben White and Tomiyasu on the right. A versatile quality player that is willing to sit on the bench and come on, as and when needed. This is what manager Mikel Arteta is looking for.

And as either of the two players fits the bill, the main concern is to avoid toxicity within the dressing room. With Cancelo, this was the problem at Manchester City. During his final days with the team before going out on loan to Bayern Munich, the player had a falling out with manager Pep Guardiola.

This is something that even Mikel Arteta won’t tolerate. With that being said, does the Arsenal boss want such a player!? Or will be take a mellowed down defender, Castagne, who could be a better team player!? Only time will tell!!
