Arsenal Newsnow: Arsenal hopes to lead the race for Youri Tielemans and clinch up a deal for the midfielder in January. A report from next month claims that the London giants would pay £20 million to get the Belgium international to the Emirates, where they want to beat off Barcelona for his services.
The Gunners’ Spanish boss recently expressed confidence that they will be very busy during the next winter transfer window. Thus raising expectations that they would acquire key players at the end of this month. Before the World Cup break, Arsenal led Man City in the Premier League by five points.
🗣️| Jamie Carragher: “Watching Arsenal the other night, I just felt they needed to relax. There so long to go in the season and when you're talking about Man City can win so many games in a row, that's what Arsenal have virtually done in the last sort of two or three month. [Sky]

A centre-forward may become vital after Jesus’ injury. However, Mikel Arteta’s aim in the window is to bring in a new attacker and defensive midfielder. Tielemans was the primary objective. But they were also looking for someone to play the other important role.
Arsenal Newsnow: Will Youri Tielemans move to Arsenal?
Several outlets reported this summer that Leicester City’s asking price failed to impress Edu Gaspar. Edu may have chosen to wait until the summer to acquire him on a free deal since Youri is interested in transferring to Arsenal. The Gunners would be better off waiting until the conclusion of the season to make an offer of £20 million rather than making one now.
All through 2022, reports indicated that Arsenal was interested in signing Tielemans. At the conclusion of the current campaign, his contract with Leicester will expire, making him a free agent.
For fear of losing him for free this summer, Leicester may have pondered selling the 25-year-old at a discount this month. There is little evidence to suggest that he will be relocating to the Emirates.
What’s next?
According to Football.london, Arsenal has no plans to sign him within the next four weeks. The story continues by saying that, despite widespread speculation over the summer of 2021, no definitive agreement was ever reached.
Many have speculated that Tielemans is open to a transfer to north London and that he has turned down Leicester’s contract extension proposals. Talks about him signing with Newcastle have also surfaced. Instead, the Gunners are trying to get winger Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk. The Gunners’ second offer for the Ukrainian star will likely be turned down.
Even Chelsea wants Mudryk. They’re going to speak to Shakhtar about it this week. It seems, however, that once Mudryk’s fate is decided, they have no intention of going after Tielemans.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract, Tielemans has maintained his regular role with Leicester this season. He’s started 16 of the 18 league games the Foxes have played this season.
