Arsenal Newsnow: It’s expected that next summer, Manchester United and Arsenal will compete for the services of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Arsenal Newsnow: Manchester United and Arsenal, according to Spanish publication Fichajes, will both attempt to sign Victor Osimhen. It seems the 24-year-old is the next hot commodity on the trade market.
United have been able to produce convincing performances after persuasive displays thanks in large part to his exceptional form. United may not be back among the Premier League’s title contenders just yet. However, the progress they’ve made under Erik ten Hag is encouraging.
Arsenal Newsnow: Will Arsenal or Mnachester United get Victor Osimhen?
They signed Wout Weghorst on loan for the rest of the season. But that move makes little sense other than as a stopgap. If they are successful in finishing in the Champions League slot, they will need to add to their assault, which means signing a star striker.
Napoli would reject any bid that does not meet their asking price for Osimhen, which is presently approximately £120 million. The Italian club wants to take advantage of their position, as seen by Chelsea’s recent purchase of Mykhaylo Mudryk, who went for an exorbitant sum to sign with the Blues.

Osimhen himself has confirmed that he spoke with Arsene Wenger about the potential of playing for Arsenal.
He said: “I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the tournament (Under-17 World Cup) ended and he wanted me to come to Arsenal. I had a lot of options. Barcelona; Inter Milan; Atletico Madrid; Juventus and the rest. Arsenal was a good option but it wasn’t the best at the time. I wanted to start playing as soon as I turned 18.”

What’s next for Osimhen?
After losing out on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea and having Gabriel Jesus go down with an injury, the Gunners are woefully understaffed at the striker position. While Napoli’s commanding lead in the Italian championship battle makes it unlikely that Osimhen would be interested in joining the Gunners in the middle of the season, they have a good shot at signing him in the summer.
An Arsenal goalkeeper was assaulted by a fan during the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday. After Arsenal’s 2-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, a 35-year-old man named Joseph Watts was charged with assault by beating. He entered an off-limits area, and launching a missile into the field of play.
Watts, a resident of Hackney, north London, was arrested on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 17 on the charges brought against him by the police.
