Arsenal Newsnow: There have been rumors that Arsenal may make an offer for Michael Olise, a standout player for Crystal Palace, the next summer. The Eagles are committed to keeping the promising French under-21 international at Selhurst Park, despite interest from other clubs. Michael Olise’s stunning late free-kick against Manchester United in midweek only added to his growing stardom. Crystal Palace’s point-saving goal severely damaged Manchester United’s chances of winning the league.

After just 18 months at the club, Olise quickly established himself as a first-team regular for Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace after coming over from Reading. The manager has total faith in the forward’s abilities. He hence gives significant input towards his development.

In Reading, he reportedly had a £35 million release clause in his contract that would have allowed other teams to acquire him. Crystal Palace has negotiated with the player to get rid of the aforementioned clause. So they will make a decision on his future based on their terms rather than the player’s.

Many teams maintained eyes on the rising French under-21 international because of his impressive play in his first season in the Premier League. Crystal Palace was lucky since nothing major happened during the summer. They want to retain him for the foreseeable future.

Next summer, Wilfried Zaha will be a free agent and they will likely lose him as well. Vieira’s long-term vision for the club would take a hit if he is forced to accept the exits of Zaha and Olise. Therefore, despite rumours of interest from Arsenal, the Eagles will do all in their power to retain Olise in Philadelphia.

What’s next for the Gunners?

The Gunners want to get a star-wide attacker. Olise is a versatile player who can operate on the right flank or in the center offensive midfield role. Vieira has used him on the right wing and in the right midfield position. Mikel Arteta is keen to continue talks with the player. Arsenal may make an offer this summer. Leandro Trossard has decided to join the Gunners. However, they had already been beaten out by Chelsea for Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Arsenal was prepared to spend a lot to get the Ukrainian international player. Arteta may want to use the saved funds on a new player this summer. It’s possible that Olise may develop into that. Therefore Crystal Palace will continue to be careful of him.

The decision of what to do with Olise now rests with Palace. The French U-21 national team player could be interested in joining a bigger club and living in London if the club is a contender for the Premier League title.
