Arsenal Transfer News: Dean Jones gave GiveMeSport an update on Ferran Torres in light of recent rumours linking him to Arsenal.
The journalist claims that Torres does not want to give up on his ambition of becoming a star for La Blaugrana so fast. He does add that a transfer to Arsenal may be on the cards if he is informed he is no longer needed at Camp Nou.
Is Ferran Torres moving to Arsenal from FC Barcelona?
He said: “From my point of view, I don’t think he’s ready to leave Barcelona yet. It seems like this is what people in Barcelona think, too. Is he really going to quit so quickly from a club like that? Most likely not. But if they tell him he doesn’t fit in at all and he needs to think about something else, Arsenal is a great plan B right now.”
Footballers’ obstinacy may be a source of frustration for the teams trying to sign them. Torres is not likely to become Barcelona’s main player any time soon. Because of all the other promising young attackers on the roster, his name isn’t at the top of the list.
Even if this is a fact that cannot be denied, Torres insists on remaining at Barca and battling for his starting position. To a certain extent, it’s admirable that a young player isn’t ready to give up on his aspirations so quickly. Yet, he may be squandering time in a career that is showing signs of promising growth.
According to reports, Arsenal is confident in their ability to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres in January. The Spanish international left Man City for the Blaugrana in January. But he hasn’t gotten much playing time due to Barca’s new offensive players.
What’s next to happen?
Torres has only started six games in La Liga and one in the Champions League this season due to the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha at Camp Nou during the summer.
Despite seeing little action, the 22-year-old forward for Spain scored twice in four World Cup games and added five goals and an assist in 18 games during the 2022-23 season.
Torres’ contract with Barca does not end until 2023. But Arsenal like the Spaniard and may make an offer to the Blaugrana then.
Reporter Dean Jones claims that Arsenal “feel” that Fernando Torres might be available in the transfer market next month. Mikel Arteta’s squad could rekindle their interest after making contact about a deal in the summer that ultimately did not materialize.
“They really like Ferran Torres. They clearly believe he might become available because they inquired about him in the summer as well,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.
“So, if they’re sniffing around him again now, they sense that something’s up,” he added.
