Arsenal Transfer News: The transfer of Jorginho to Arsenal has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners agreed to a £12 million agreement with Chelsea. Before today’s transfer deadline, the Italian international will go to north London for medicals and finalize the transfer. Just before the transfer deadline, Arsenal signed midfielder Jorginho. Mikel Arteta, who reportedly intended to sign a midfielder this window, was able to sign the Italian international.

In light of Arsenal’s failure to reach an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo, the club’s interest in Jorginho only surfaced late on Monday. The Seagulls have maintained their stance that they would retain the Ecuadorian international for the rest of the season.

After having two bids rejected by Brighton, Arsenal was anticipated to submit a third proposal. The Gunners have swooped in for Jorginho from Chelsea. He has just six months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, in the waning hours of the current transfer window.

His long-term viability at Stamford Bridge was questioned. Talks between Chelsea and Benfica about the transfer of Enzo Fernandez have progressed over the last two days. Will Jorginho help the Gunners?

Jorginho will go to north London today to have his physical and officially join Arsenal before the transfer deadline. If Chelsea does not secure a permanent deal for Jorginho before the end of the current transfer window, they risk losing the 31-year-old for free in the summer when his contract at Stamford Bridge ends.

If Chelsea is successful in their pursuit of Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, Jorginho’s status in the club’s pecking order would inevitably decline. If Chelsea is successful in their pursuit of Fernandez, then Arsenal may consider making a bid for Jorginho.
