According to FutbolTotal, Arsenal will attempt to sign Barcelona star Ferran Torres in the next January transfer window.
As a result of Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury sustained while playing for Brazil at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Gunners need to bolster their forward lineup. The team may add a forward player to help cover for Gabriel Jesus’ absence, as revealed by the manager.
He said: “It’s a very bad thing for us, of course. He’s such an important player. He’s brought something different to the team. It’s impossible to replace him. But there are other players and other options. We’ll try to work something out. There is also the transfer window.”
They appear to be making an effort to fix the situation by introducing a fresh face. Torres may be a great asset. During his time at Manchester City, the Spain national team player gained valuable experience playing in the Premier League in England.
Will Arsenal get Ferran Torres from FC Barcelona?
He played in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens. He scored 16 goals and dished out four assists, before signing for Barcelona for £48.4 million in December 2021. Arsenal is ready to put Barca to the test this winter by offering £43 million for the player.
The player’s flexibility means he might help Arsenal’s assault in three different ways. Torres, who is just 22 years old, is still developing, but he has all the makings of a future superstar.
Arteta’s propensity to trust youth is shown by his hiring of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Gabriel Martinelli, three young men all of whom are under the age of 22.
For Torres, who has had trouble getting playing time under Xavi Hernandez, there is a glimmer of optimism. Since joining the La Liga giants a year ago, he has scored 12 goals and recorded seven assists in 44 outings across all competitions.
Torres has only started seven times this season for Barcelona in all competitions due in part to Robert Lewandowski’s emergence as a first-team regular.
Since joining the Catalan giants from Bayern Munich this summer, the Polish international has scored 13 goals in 14 La Liga matches. Upon being questioned about the 34-year-old striker, Torres said to MARCA:
“At his side, I am a sponge. I observe him in everything, in all his movements. I am lucky to also be a striker and I watch his movements. It is very nice to play alongside a footballer like him, of his stature.”
Torres’s deal with Spotify Camp Nou has another 4.5 years to go. However, if Arsenal makes a substantial offer, it is unclear if Barcelona will accept it.
