Chelsea Newsnow: Inquiries about Josko Gvardiol’s availability are made by Chelsea to RB Leipzig
Chelsea Newsnow: Christian Falk of BILD reports, through Give Me Sport, that Premier League powerhouse Chelsea has made an inquiry about Josko Gvardiol to Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. The 20-year-old Croatian defender was one of the tournament’s most impressive performers. Gvaardiol is a dependable defender who has all the tools to become an elite central defender at the highest level.
Chelsea Newsnow: What’s the matter?
There doesn’t seem to be any way for Chelsea to get Gvardiol in the January transfer window. But a summer transfer is still feasible. The Blues’ future success may hinge on whether or not they are willing to match the 20-year-massive old’s €110m release clause.
Even with Todd Boehly on board, Chelsea’s transfer market spending has continued unabated. There is no doubt that the American will agree to a princely sum for Gvardiol. He can serve as the backbone of the defence for the next decade or more.

Thiago Silva is growing older, while Kalidou Koulibaly has shown sluggish in the Premier League recently. Wesley Fofana’s injuries have not yet healed, while Trevoh Chalobah is still a work in progress. An understatement would be to say the Blues have a mixed bag of centre-backs on their roster.
Benoit Badiashile, a new signing for Chelsea this month, had an impressive start in the Blues’ 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. Gvardiol’s arrival, coupled with those of Badiashile and Fofana, should provide the defensive solidity that Potter and company have been craving.

What’s next for the Blues?
In addition to Real Madrid and Liverpool, several teams have shown interest in Gvardiol. It’s time for Chelsea to pull themselves together as they undertake a huge renovation. Additionally, they have signed numerous players from Leipzig in recent years. They are expected to sign Christoper Nkunku the next summer. Whether or if Gvardiol will get on that money train is up in the air.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea has been kept up to date on developments involving Marcus Thuram, a forward for Borussia Monchengladbach. The Frenchman has excelled in the Bundesliga. He seems to be a solid signing for Graham Potter’s Chelsea, who could need an improvement on players like Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Blues have been active in January, signing elite players like Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk, and they may not be finished yet. According to Romano, Chelsea is very close to completing the transfer of Noni Madueke. He has also discussed the Blues’ interest in Thuram with Give Me Sport.
