Chelsea Newsnow: The Guardian reports that since Chelsea and Mason Mount have not settled on a new contract, the club is taking a significant risk. Liverpool’s admiration for the midfielder hasn’t waned. They may make an overt move this summer to sign the Blues’ outstanding player. Both Mason Mount and Reece James provide a significant presence for Chelsea. Both of these players are products of the Cobham youth program. They have made significant contributions to the first team since their debuts. Mount is now regarded favourably among Stamford Bridge’s hallways, but that may soon change.

After locking up James for the long haul, Chelsea is looking to do the same with Mount. The England international has previously been reluctant to sign a new deal with the club, giving a variety of excuses for his stance. The Blues’ optimism in retaining the player hasn’t wavered.

Mount is at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wish list as he looks to acquire an attacking midfielder this summer. It’s possible that current players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita may leave on free transfers at the conclusion of the season. Substitutes will be required for the Reds.
