Mykhaylo Mudryk, a standout for Shakhtar Donetsk, is apparently interested in joining Arsenal.
According to GiveMeSport journalist Dean Jones, negotiations for a prospective move are now underway. But the player’s worth is proving to be an early roadblock. His value to Shakhtar is about £100 million, which is double what Arsenal gives him.
Anatoliy Trubin, the goalkeeper for Shakhtar, said earlier this season that the club was making fun of the winger because of rumours that he was going to sign with Arsenal. They think he has already established himself in the Emirates because of his extensive ties to the team.
Manager Mikel Arteta does not currently have a need for a new winger. For the Gunners, 21-year-olds Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have been outstanding on the left and right sides of the attack, respectively.
Mudryk might bring much-needed competition in the attack. It is especially given Nicolas Pepe’s dismal play and Marquinhos’s inexperience at the European level at the age of 19. Marquinhos has only played 210 minutes of professional action since joining the club. Pepe is now on loan at the French side Nice.
Will Mykhaylo Mudryk move to Arsenal?
Gabriel Jesus had surgery on his right knee after sustaining an injury while playing for Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Arsenal lacks an immediate replacement for the ex-Manchester City striker who can provide world-class production from the forward position. Arteta believes that Eddie Nketiah, a promising young player at age 23, is ready to make an impact.
There is no denying that if the Englishman were to replace Jesus in the starting XI, the overall quality of the team would suffer. As of now, Nketiah has logged a paltry 141 minutes of league action this season.
Despite having a five-point advantage over second-place Manchester City, the Gunners cannot afford to be unprepared for the second half of the season.
What’s next?
With Gabriel Martinelli’s versatility, he might replace the Brazilian on the left side with newcomer Mykhaylo Mudryk. Mudryk can also play in the centre.
The January transfer market will begin in just a few days. Several of the major Premier League teams are anticipated to be active. For instance, Arsenal’s apparent lead in the pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix. He may be permitted to depart on loan before a permanent transfer in the summer, is indicative of this trend.
Meanwhile, Declan Rice is being linked to Chelsea once again. The English international is certain to remain at West Ham in the next month. However, reports have indicated that Todd Boehly is optimistic about clinching a £75 million deal this summer.
