Goncalo Ramos, a Portuguese striker, has been offered a massive transfer boost by Arsenal. The Benfica forward, who replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s starting lineup against Switzerland and scored a hat trick, went scoreless in Portugal’s 0-0 draw with Morocco.
Like Brazil, the Netherlands, and England, Portugal suffered elimination from the World Cup in Qatar in the quarterfinals. Many supporters have been calling on Edu to sign Ramos, 21-year-old, after his spectacular performance in the round of 16 match against Switzerland.
As of now, Ramos has played in 21 games for Benfica, scoring 14 goals and assisting on six more. After he led Portugal to the World Cup finals, the club in Portugal may get several offers for their star striker.
Will Goncalo Ramos come to Arsenal?
Reporter Dean Jones, writing for GiveMeSport, claims that many Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, Arsenal, Southampton, Manchester United, and Leeds United, are “tracking” the Benfica star. According to Jones, “while the man of the moment Goncalo Ramos appears a golden ticket that may transfer anywhere from Benfica — yet he has a high release clause and has more value than ever.”
Because Ramos’ contract will expire in 2026, Benfica may ask for a hefty sum in exchange for him, just as they did when they sold Joao Felix and Darwin Nunez. Prior to acquiring Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for £45 million in the summer, football.london claimed that the Gunners were interested in signing the Portugal international.
With Jesus out until February due to a knee injury sustained with Brazil at the World Cup, Arsenal may aim to add a new striker in the next January transfer window. Arteta will be hoping his team can keep up the form they showed before the World Cup as they compete with City for the Premier League title and try to earn a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Manchester United and their interest:
Goncalo Ramos, a striker for Benfica, may also move to Manchester United this summer. When Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag has just Anthony Martial as a true centre striker. The Reds’ manager has made it clear that United must improve their goal-scoring if they are to have a successful season.
Reports out of Portugal suggest that United are considering Ramos as a summer transfer target. On Tuesday night, the striker started in place of Ronaldo for Portugal and scored a hat-trick as they defeated Switzerland 6-1.
The 21-year-old forward has already netted 14 goals for his Portuguese club this season. Ramos has a large €120 million release clause in his contract. Thus putting the onus of any deal with another club on Benfica. He is under contract with the Portuguese club until 2026.
Jornal de Noticias reports that Benfica is now unyielding in their demand for a release clause of that size. United may get helping hand in their pursuit of Joao Felix, according to reports. After reportedly becoming restless in Madrid, the Atletico Madrid player has become a target for the Reds.
