Latest Arsenal News: 5 Arsenal Players That Really Need To Step Up This Season

"I Want These 2 Signings" - Mikel Arteta Has Asked Arsenal To Sign These 2 Players

Latest Arsenal News: The Gunners need to settle in their new signings quickly, if they want to make an impression once again this season. Things did not look too bright against Manchester United. And the team ended up losing the match 2-0. Further, Arsenal also lost out in the penalty shootout. This was surely not what their fans wanted on the day.

And Mikel Arteta and co. will not be pleased with the result. They will want to improve the quality of football and fast. The team was brilliant last season. And the fans will expect more in the upcoming season.

With that being said, there is a lot of pressure on the Spanish manager and his young team. The latest Arsenal news suggest that there could be more signings coming in. However, the players will surely need more time to fit in and adjust to the conditions.

Latest Arsenal News: With That Being Said, Here Are 5 Current Gunners’ Stars From Last Season That Really Need To Step Up Now!!

Fabio Vieira

The Portuguese play-maker looks like a malnourished kid in a Big-Boys’ League. Though a lot of Gooners are still backing him to do some amazing things in the upcoming seasons, it is very difficult for a player with such a weak physique to survive in the top flight of English football. Vieira will surely have to muscle up and work on his creative play if he wants to survive in England. And contribute to Arsenal’s long-term success!!

Eddie Nketiah

Though Eddie Nketiah scored some crucial goals last season, it is high time for him to step up. In Gabriel Jesus’ absence, Arsenal suffered a lot. And even when he did return, the form could not be recovered. This hurt the team and they lose the title.

Now, it is high time that the striker, who wears the no. 14, does more. He will want to be the first-choice forward for Arteta. And will want to lead the line. This may be his last and final chance with the Gunners, with Balogun looking to impress and get more game-time.

If Eddie Nketiah fails, it could mean the end of his Arsenal career. This is something that he will surely not want. At least, not at the tender age of just 24.

Reiss Nelson

The winger is still rated highly by a lot of Arsenal fans. This is due to his winner against Bournemouth last season. It got him in the news and the limelight for once, for all the right reasons. However, his overall injury problems and lack of consistency, are not something that the fans like.

As we speak (or rather you read this article), he is out with a toe injury. He will be back in about a week’s time or so, if everything goes as per plan. However, Reiss Nelson will be missing a chunk of the team’s pre-season yet again. And the latest Arsenal news suggests that the fans are losing patience with him.

So, this could be his make or break season at the Emirates. Much like Eddie Nketiah, it will be interesting to see how this young attacker performs.

Aaron Ramsdale

When Ramsdale came to Arsenal, he had been with two Premier League teams that were relegated in back-to-back seasons. Not the best record to have on your resume. And though, the Englishman was one of the best players that both sides had, things did not work out well for him.

He had his fair share of weaknesses. And not all Arsenal fans (including myself) were totally convinced that this was our guy. Especially, when the likes of Jack Butland and even Nick Pope (my choice) were available in the market. However, Arteta did what he does best and signed an unknown entity instead.

The result so far has been brilliant. And though Ramsdale has outshined all expectations of him, the Champions League has a mind of its own. It’s not just another Cup competition. And the players really need to step up. Or they get knocked out. So, there is still some concern over Ramsdale after his recent error against Manchester United and his distribution in recent times.

Plus, the fact that he can’t seem to save a penalty, could haunt the Gunners too. Hopefully, Mikel Arteta is watching and has a solution to this problem. Let’s wait and watch!!

Emile Smith Rowe

The young Englishman was tagged the Croydon De Bruyne a season ago. But last season his injuries got the better of him. And things have not been the same for ESR since then. He is yet to look impressive in matches. And Gabriel Martinelli has taken his first-team spot on the left-wing in recent times.

Though Smith Rowe can play in other positions too, he needs to find his feet. And figure out what he can do in this team. There is a lot of competition going on for places at present. Mikel Arteta and co. have a real plan. So, it becomes important for everyone to step up.

The only positive is that the latest Arsenal news confirm that the young attacker won’t be leaving the Emirates this summer. Earlier, there were some concerns over his future. Those have been take care of, for now. Let’s wait and see how much he can impress in the upcoming campaign.
