As the transfer window races toward its finale, Chelsea find themselves in a high-stakes negotiation. According to Brazilian outlet UOL, the Blues have set their eyes on Corinthians’ 17-year-old sensation, Gabriel Moscardo. With a rejected €21 million offer already behind them, Chelsea now face a €30 million hurdle to land the young prodigy.
The Blues have been on a massive spending spree this summer, with nearly €400 million splashed on new recruits. Since the arrival of Todd Boehly in May 2022, Chelsea’s total spending exceeds an astonishing £900 million. Cole Palmer recently joined the ranks at Stamford Bridge, but the club isn’t done yet.
Chelsea’s interest in Brazilian talent is nothing new. The club has already secured several young talents from Brazil’s Serie A, such as Andrey Santos, Angelo Gabriel, and Deivid Washington, in 2023. They’ve also secured a deal for 16-year-old Ecuadorian Kendry Paez for 2025. Now, it’s Moscardo who’s at the center of their attention.
Freshly promoted to Corinthians’ first team, Moscardo is a defensive midfielder with immense promise. He made his debut in a Copa Libertadores match against Liverpool from Uruguay in June. Since then, he has accumulated ten senior appearances and has caught the attention of scouts worldwide. Clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, and even Nottingham Forest have shown interest.
However, Chelsea have gone a step further. They’re the only club to have submitted an official proposal to Corinthians. Despite the generous offer and the option to retain the player for another season, Corinthians turned it down. The club owns 80% of Moscardo’s economic rights, making them the key decision-makers.
Unlike other Chelsea deals, this one isn’t a rush job. Moscardo would be too young to join Chelsea’s Cobham youth system immediately. He would have to turn 18 first. Current discussions indicate that Moscardo will only join Chelsea next summer if a deal goes through.
UOL journalist Bruno Andrade has suggested that Corinthians could settle for a €25 million package deal. The catch is that Chelsea would have to pay the full amount upfront. In an era of staggered payments, that’s a noteworthy stipulation. However, for a club that has been spending the way Chelsea has, it may not be a deal-breaker.

In signing Moscardo, Chelsea would be investing in the future. Given his age, he’s more of a long-term project than an immediate first-team fixture. With a youth system known for producing top talents, the Blues could be the perfect environment for Moscardo to grow.
As the clock ticks down, Chelsea must decide if Moscardo is worth the high asking price. With intense competition and the world watching, it’s a critical moment. Either they successfully negotiate and secure another young talent, or they miss out and move on.
Should they pull off this last-minute deal, Chelsea would add another jewel to their already glittering crown of young talents. But for now, the next move is Chelsea’s to make. Will they meet Corinthians’ €30 million asking price or negotiate it down? Whatever happens, this is one transfer saga that adds an exciting twist to an already dramatic transfer window.
