There has been speculation that Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli may join Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of the season
Calciomercato of Italy reports that Paris Saint-Germain may try to acquire Brazilian international Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal this summer.
Martinelli has a contract with Arsenal until the end of 2024. It will be intriguing to see whether the Gunners can agree on an extension with him. Supposedly, the north Londoners have reached an advanced stage in contract negotiations.
The 21-year-old has been outstanding this season. His stellar play has been a major factor in Arsenal’s success. Martinelli has contributed to five goals and two assists in the Premier League this season. The loss of the Brazilian, who is widely regarded as a precocious talent, would be devastating to the Gunners. They must aim to lock the player down to a long-term agreement shortly.
More practice and guidance should help Martinelli become better. He’s got everything he needs to become a superstar player. Accordingly, Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of the Arsenal attacker is not unexpected.
Mikel Arteta has relied heavily on this player so far this season. The North London club’s faithful will do whatever they can to keep him for the remainder of the campaign. Thanks to his great play, Martinelli has been selected to represent Brazil at the World Cup.
Will Gabriel Martinelli leave for PSG?
His season in the major tournament has been difficult so far. But he has a chance to get into the starting lineup shortly. PSG might lose Kylian Mbappe at the conclusion of the season, and it makes sense for them to look at prospective replacements.
To be sure, Arsenal’s attacker is not quite at the same level as the Frenchman. But he has all the necessary tools to become a very valuable member of PSG’s roster. The French club has the financial means to make a significant transfer for the player.
At the conclusion of the season, Martinelli may or may not be enticed to go elsewhere for work. His long-term future is best served by committing to the Gunners. Arsenal have been instrumental in his development. The English club will provide him with consistent playing time.
As expected, Neymar did play for Brazil against Switzerland in their second group stage match on Saturday due to an ankle injury he sustained in the opening match against Serbia. It was well into stoppage time when the forward was replaced.
Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Serbia in which Gabriel Martinelli was used as a second-half substitute showed that he remains in Tite’s plans.
Unfortunately for Martinelli, he was not chosen to replace the Paris Saint-Germain star. So he will once again have to make do with playing time off the bench. This could help Arsenal’s bargaining position during contract talks.
