Arsenal Is Ready To Pay Big For This €130m Striker; Chelsea Also Want Him

Recent reports from Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness have shed light on Arsenal’s potential advantage over Chelsea in the pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. As the summer transfer window approaches, both clubs are eyeing the prolific forward, but Arsenal seems to be gaining traction in the race.

Arsenal’s interest in Victor Osimhen stems from their pressing need for a prolific striker. Despite their promising start to the 2024 season, Arsenal has struggled to replicate their attacking prowess from previous seasons. With only five league goals scored, there’s a palpable void in the center-forward position that needs addressing. Manager Mikel Arteta recognizes the importance of bolstering the squad with a dynamic striker, and Osimhen fits the bill perfectly.

While Chelsea is intensifying their efforts to secure Osimhen by reportedly preparing to meet his €130 million release clause, Arsenal may hold a crucial advantage. The Gunners can offer Champions League football in the upcoming season, a factor that could sway Osimhen’s decision. As a top-tier striker, Osimhen is likely to prioritize playing in Europe’s premier club competition, giving Arsenal an edge over Chelsea.

However, Arsenal’s pursuit of Osimhen is not without competition. Paris Saint-Germain is emerging as a formidable contender in the race for the Nigerian striker. With rumors swirling about Kylian Mbappe’s potential departure, PSG sees Osimhen as a viable replacement. The prospect of joining a star-studded PSG lineup alongside the likes of Neymar and potentially Rafael Leao poses a tempting alternative for Osimhen.

Despite Arsenal’s strategic position and Champions League allure, their ability to secure Osimhen hinges on their financial capacity. With Chelsea reportedly prepared to meet the release clause, Arsenal must demonstrate their financial prowess to close the deal. While Arsenal’s ownership structure and recent financial investments suggest they have the means, the final decision rests on their willingness to meet Napoli’s valuation.

In the pursuit of Victor Osimhen, Arsenal finds itself in a favourable position compared to Chelsea, thanks to their Champions League credentials and strategic need for a striker. However, competition from Paris Saint-Germain adds complexity to the transfer saga. As the summer transfer window unfolds, Arsenal must navigate the intricacies of the market to secure their target.

Arteta said: “I think we’ve been very, very consistent, especially with performances. We could have had more points for different reasons. But it’s where we are and as well we are through in the Champions League in a really convincing way. We have managed three and a half months with some big injuries as well and that’s credit to the boys, so I’m really happy with what they’re doing. We can improve, yes, we want to evolve, yes, and that will be the target for the next coming games. I’m very proud of our players with the performance.”
