Arsenal Provide An Update On Xavi Simons

Come summer transfer season, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are said to be in the position to sign Xavi Simons permanently from Paris Saint-Germain. According to a Spanish newspaper, SPORT, Xavi Simons has Arsenal’s attention. However, he is adamant on going back to Barcelona. He won’t be going cheap, however; Paris Saint-Germain is demanding almost €60 million. Ever since he left PSG about two years ago, Xavi Simons has undergone quite the transformation. The 21-year-old left Barcelona in search of greater playing time. However, with PSG he ended himself warming the couch. But things changed after a stay with PSV Eindhoven in 2022–2023.

PSG used their meagre €4 million buyback option last summer because they couldn’t bear to let him leave. Then they promptly leased him to RB Leipzig. Simons has continued to produce, scoring nine goals and dishing out fifteen assists in 42 games this season. Though larger teams are approaching, RB Leipzig wants to retain him longer. Arsenal’s curiosity makes sense given his adaptability. Mostly an offensive midfielder, he is also a capable wing player. With Arsenal looking to a busy 2024–25 campaign, Simons might provide depth to Martinelli, Trossard, and Saka.

But Simons longs for a reunion in Barcelona. The uncertainty over de Jong, Raphinha, and Torres has the Catalans curious. But for a financially strapped Barcelona, spending €60 million may be a reach. Arsenal, however, seems to have the money required. Maybe their biggest obstacle is persuading Simons to choose Emirates over Camp Nou. But come summer transfer season, Arsenal may have a strong argument if they have enough money.

Interesting information regarding Arsenal and Bayern Munich pursuing Xavi Simons from PSG. The image Simons paints after leaving PSG is intriguing. Arsenal seems to be prepared with the money, even if PSG is asking €60 million for him. Simons, however, appears to be determined to get back together with Barcelona. Clubs with distinct goals are tugging at each other. The key is with Simons, however. Any club he selects may have its midfield dynamics changed by his choice. Watching this drama as the summer transfer window draws near is worthwhile.

Teun Koopmeiners is being watched by Liverpool. They look to strengthen their offensive squad this coming season. Having advanced from the ranks of AZ Alkmaar in 2017, the Dutch midfielder joined Atalanta and has since shown impressive improvement. Over his time at Atalanta, Koopmeiners became a key player who shown flexibility in right-wing and midfield areas. Premier teams, most notably Manchester United, have taken notice of his remarkable 22 goal contributions in 47 games this season.

Liverpool quickly joined the race, prepared to outbid with a rumoured €60-70 million offer, despite United’s protracted interest. Their quest fits with the approaching management change, with Arne Slot, who worked with Koopmeiners at AZ Alkmaar before, set to take over at Anfield. Liverpool’s calculated decision highlights Slot’s impact as well as Koopmeiners’ flexibility, maybe igniting a smooth transition within the team. Even although the Dutch midfielder is still obligated to Atalanta by a multi-year deal, Liverpool shares his desire for a more prominent transfer, which is heightened by the possibility of reunion with Slot.
