Arsenal has chosen to lower its curiosity on Viktor Gyokeres and other striker prospects. The team appears to have changed its mind despite first thought. Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, could have opted to concentrate on many aspects of the squad. Since the last season finished, Arsenal have been connected with a number of forwards. The club was said to require a fresh striker. But Arteta’s choice seems to have been inspired by Kai Havertz’s play in the central-forward post. Arsenal has thus shifted away from aiming for some of its former top targets.
A Bad Update In Viktor Gyokeres To Arsenal
One such aim was Sporting CP attacker Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal was very interested in him, and rumors abound about conversations between the two teams. Gyokeres had an outstanding season, enabling Sporting CP to win the Portuguese league championship and scoring 43 goals across all games. Even with his success, his hefty release clause made a possible transfer problematic. Given Gyokeres’ excellent season, Sporting CP has no motive to take a less offer.
Although Arsenal had also shown interest in younger striker Benjamin Sesko, he chose to remain with RB Leipzig. This choice could have shaped Arsenal’s change of emphasis even further. Arsenal could focus on enhancing their wide offensive options instead of actively hunting a new striker. They need a flexible winger to cover Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Arteta seeks a player who can rotate through games and provide the club more variation.
Arsenal also express interest in Ajax striker Brian Brobhey. The Dutch striker interests Manchester United as well. Brobbey is on Arteta’s shortlist and had a decent season at Ajax in spite of difficulties the team faces. Arsenal has almost signed defender Riccardo Calafiori in meanwhile. Arteta wants to support his backline with a strong defensive choice. Additionally on the market for a third-choice goalkeeper is the club. Wolves reportedly turned down a proposal for former youth player and thirty-year-old goalkeeper Dan Bentley.
As Arsenal evaluates its requirements and market prospects, their transfer approach looks to be changing. Finding adaptable players who can provide the team depth and versatility currently seems to be the main emphasis.
More news:
Arsenal tried lately but failed to capture Wolves’ goalkeeper Dan Bentley. David Ornstein of The Athletic believes that the offer was insufficient. Arsenal needs Bentley to satisfy the domestic player quota and to have a backup to David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale. Arsenal wants to have more choices for goalkeeping going into the next season. They particularly want a domestic third-choice goalkeeper. A recognizable face like Bentley will be much needed if any of their academy stars depart this summer. Though never making a first-team debut, Bentley, 30 now, played for Arsenal’s youth. He departed 15 years ago and has since participated in more than 430 senior games mostly in the EFL Championship.
