Arsenal Homegrown Player Wanted By Marseille

Marseille apparently wants to recruit Eddie Nketiah, 25-year-old striker for Arsenal, this summer. French site Foot Mercato broke the story, pointing that Marseille had been in touch with Nketiah’s reps. This curiosity arises even as Marseille closes on a deal for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood. Eddie Nketiah’s path at Arsenal has been demanding. Originally from Lewisham, the footballer started his young career with Chelsea, where he stayed eight years until switching to Arsenal in 2015. At 18 in 2017, he came into Arsenal’s first squad and has been steadily improving over years. He has never, however, confirmed his status as a consistent starter.

Over 150 Arsenal games Nketiah has participated in, he has scored 38 goals and dished seven assists. His market worth is great even with few starts. He has attracted attention from many Premier League teams; Marseille being the latest. The chase of Nketiah by Marseille makes sense. Though they are close to signing Greenwood, the agreement has run across issues. They are so also aiming toward Nketiah to increase their force of assault. Marseille needs fresh talent to support their front-line as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ages.

Marseille will not find signing Nketiah simple. Arsenal will want a hefty price for their own native talent. Marseille could find this difficult, but their desire is shown by their curiosity. Nketiah is seen as a major addition to the French team. The summer transfer window takes an interesting turn from Marseille’s curiosity in Eddie Nketiah. Seeing how they negotiate the complexity of signing both Greenwood and Nketiah will be interesting. With Nketiah’s possible action, Marseille’s offensive choices for the next season will be strengthened and his career might take a big turn.
