Arsenal have not yet initiated serious negotiations to sign Johan Bakayoko, a winger for PSV Eindhoven. Many teams showed interest in Bakayoko this summer, and the Gunners are reportedly still considering their options (Fabrizio Romano). The 21-year-old is among the most gifted wingers on the market right now, according to Romano.
Romelu Lukaku, Bakayoko’s teammate, has praised him as “incredible” as he now concentrates on the 2024 European Championship with Belgium. Following yet another successful season in the Eredivisie, he is looking forward to a jam-packed summer. Arne Slot, Liverpool’s new manager, knew Bakayoko from their time together in the Netherlands, so the Reds aren’t the only ones interested in signing him.
The Premier League has shown interest in Bakayoko for the second year running due to reports that he is available for £43 million this summer. Prior to Burnley’s return to the Premier League last summer, Bakayoko spoke with the media and said that former manager Vincent Kompany had contacted him to explain his vision.
The matter:
Along with Jeremy Doku and Lois Openda, Bakayoko is considered one of the best young Belgian prospects; he debuted for PSV’s first squad in 2022. Romano, however, thinks it’s premature to talk about rumors of a transfer to Arsenal just yet. Joining Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard as wide forwards is a decision that the Gunners are hesitating about.
Having come so close to winning the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s squad plans to invest heavily again this summer. They smashed their transfer record last year with Declan Rice’s arrival, and even if they have had a quiet start to the summer, they still have the opportunity to welcome big-money players.
Following Euro 2024, in which he was a key member of Belgium’s run to the quarterfinals, Bakayoko’s future is expected to be settled. His outstanding play for PSV earned him a big tournament call-up for the first time in his career. The 21-year-old has 12 goals and 9 assists in 33 outings for the Eredivisie. The Gunners’ pursuit of Bakayoko reveals their desire to bolster their team. If he were to join Arsenal, their offensive options would be bolstered. Bakayoko may be an asset to Arteta’s squad because to his stellar statistics.
Fabrizio Romano Offers Update On £43m Winger Signing For Arsenal
It would be wise to pursue the winger due to his flexibility and skill set. He is talented since he can score and assist on goals on a regular basis. Perhaps Arsenal will benefit from their conservative approach to the transfer market if it allows them to make well-informed selections. The pursuit of Bakayoko’s signing is becoming more competitive due to Liverpool’s interest. He may be swayed by the fact that Bakayoko and Arne Slot are acquainted. On the other hand, Arsenal may have the upper hand due to their desire and recent success.
Romano said:
“I saw these links, but at the moment I have no confirmation anything is advanced or concrete at this stage between Arsenal and Bakayoko. He’s been scouted by several clubs. He is, for sure, one of the most talented wingers available on the market.
But at the moment, Arsenal have not started a concrete negotiation with the player or with the club for Bakayoko, so it’s still early.
I think Arsenal will take their time before deciding what they want to do in that position. But at the moment, for Bakayoko, it is not something imminent or something close.”
Any news on Bakayoko’s possible move would be much anticipated by Arsenal supporters. They may have higher expectations for the next season after signing the youthful winger. The fate of the Gunners hangs in the balance as the transfer window continues.
