Leicester City Wants Arsenal Star In Loan

Leicester City Wants Arsenal Star In Loan

Reiss Nelson is someone Leicester City wants on loan this summer. Reiss, a 24-year-old striker from Arsenal, is under observation as the recently promoted Premier League team wants to strengthen its lineup. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano sparked this curiosity.

Reiss Nelson’s stay at the Gunners hasn’t been perfect. He battled to establish his position in the first squad even though he started as a teen. His most noteworthy tenure was loan to TSG Hoffenheim. Mostly off the bench, he scored eight goals and gave nine assists in over one hundred Gunner appearances. Given the open transfer window, this performance puts his future with the Emirates dubious.

Leicester City Wants Arsenal Star In Loan

Among Premier League teams, Nelson is under observation by West Ham United, Crystal Palace, and Fulham. Still, Leicester City seems to be leading. They would want a loan with a required purchase clause. Nelson is a good choice as the Foxes, under budgetary restrictions, are concentrating on affordable squad construction.

The Gunners and Leicester are negotiating right now. Confident in their ability to get Nelson, the Foxes see this agreement as a wise way to improve their team without going beyond. For Nelson, this might be an opportunity to start over his career. Though it’s not known if he would be eager to join Leicester, reconnecting with Steve Cooper may appeal to him.

From the Gunners’ point of view, both sides may gain from a loan with a forced buy clause. Leicester gets a good talent, and the Gunners could see Nelson grow with more playing time. Seeing a native talent like Nelson go is always mixed, however. Should the relocation go through, Gooners will hope he flourishes and at last shows the promise shown in his early years at the Emirates.

The Gunners have been assiduously trying to get Italian center-back Riccardo Calafiori; Fabrizio Romano notes that they have secured a comprehensive deal with Bologna. The formal announcement is probably not far off. Calafiori returned to Serie A with an amazing path. He revived his career with FC Basel after an average stay with AS Roma. He went back to Italy last season, joining Bologna where he recorded 37 games, two goals, and five assists. His defensive ability enabled Bologna to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Calafiori impressed out with his outstanding efforts despite Italy’s underwhelming Euro 2024 campaign. Although he has three years remaining on his Bologna deal, he said he wanted to join a better team. Though Mikel Arteta’s Gunners won the race, other elite European teams expressed interest. Arteta desired more defensive competition, hence Calafiori’s presence will definitely improve the standards.

Arsenal would benefit much from Calafiori’s adaptability. He covers at left-back and can play as a center defender. The Gunners first settled personal terms with Calafiori, then bargained with Bologna. The agreement is worth €45 million; €40 million initially and €5 million in add-ons make it Bologna also obtained a sell-on clause, which calls for talks with FC Basel, possessing a 50% sell-on clause. The teams are currently exchanging paperwork to complete the trade when those specifics are under order.
