Manchester City Have Confirmed The Signing Of An Arsenal Player

Vivianne Miedema's contract with Arsenal ended, and Manchester City announced her signing on a free transfer.

Vivianne Miedema’s contract with Arsenal ended, and Manchester City announced her signing on a free transfer. With an impressive 79 goals in the English top division, Miedema holds the record for most goals scored in WSL history. During her seven years at Arsenal, she won the Women’s Super League and three League Cups. After signing a deal with Arsenal in May 2022, she became the highest-paid female footballer in England.

But she tore her anterior cruciate ligament in December 2022. She only made 13 appearances for Arsenal in the 2023–24 season due to the difficulty of her recuperation from this injury. Last season, Arsenal’s failure to advance in the WSL was in part due to her absence.

Manchester City Have Confirmed The Signing Of An Arsenal Player

The 27-year-old Miedema is far from done. The international player from the Netherlands is hoping to have even greater success in England, namely with Manchester City. Since being promoted to the top level in 2014, City has only won one WSL championship. Their intention to compete at the top level is shown by Miedema’s entrance. Miedema loves to dive deep to get the ball, and she’s known for her nimble footwork and dual-footedness. Players like as City’s starting forward Bunny Shaw might benefit from this.

After playing for the Netherlands in their Euro 2025 qualification matches against Italy and Norway, Miedema will join Manchester City’s team at the tail end of July. At her new club, she’ll be wearing shirt number six.

The sale of Mika Biereth to Sturm Graz is expected to fetch £4 million for Arsenal. While on loan at the Austrian club for the second part of last season, the striker scored nine goals and made quite an impression. After helping Sturm Graz win the Austrian Bundesliga, Biereth has opted to stay with the club permanently. It gave him a shot at playing in the Champions League next season.

Despite having only one year remaining on his contract with Arsenal, Biereth is leaving for Sturm Graz for a club-record cost of £4 million. After the cost is paid, he will promptly go through a medical examination and finish any personal matters. After leaving Fulham in 2021, the 21-year-old joined Arsenal. The club is raking in a tidy profit from his sale.

Biereth was disappointed that he did not get the playing time he had hoped for at Arsenal. Everyone thinks it’s a good idea that he sold to Sturm Graz. The sale of winger Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich from Chelsea for £22 million rounded up a successful week for Arsenal. They also made about £4 million from that transaction. The agreement that Hutchinson signed with Chelsea in 2022 contained sell-on provisions that Arsenal had included when he was a youth product of the club. So now they’re getting fifteen to twenty percent of Hutchinson’s fee.
