SL vs AUS Live Update: 'It Has Been A Pretty Difficult Stretch"- Aaron Finch Talks About His Lack Of Form With The Bat

SL vs AUS Live Update: Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia’s white-ball team, has recognized that he is going through a dry spell with the bat. He expressed his desire to break out of it before the Twenty20 World Cup. The right-handed hitter thinks that he has to make some adjustments to his technique to go back to form.

Finch’s match-winning half-century against Pakistan in the solitary Twenty20 International that took place in Lahore was an indication that he was back to form. But, it looks that this was only a false dawn. The seasoned player was only able to score 135 runs over the course of seven games in the T20 World Cup the year before. His average score was 19.29. He has not hit a half-century since March of 2021 in April.

SL vs AUS Live Update: What did Finch say?

Finch said that he has been in this position before, in response to a question about how he intends to reverse the decline in his performance that has recently occurred. The 35-year-old feels that he still has time to find his touch before the Twenty20 World Cup this year. He will have the opportunity to compete in 11 Twenty20 Internationals and the same number of One Day Internationals.

“Just get some more runs. It has been a pretty difficult stretch. Throughout the course of my profession, I’ve dealt with that situation several times. You’ll experience moments in which you rack up a large number of runs in a short period, followed by parts in which you’ll have some dry spells. There is a lot of time to be able to grow. I think to get back into the rhythm of one-day cricket in particular, even though the cricket calendar is rather hectic,” Finch said as reported by ESPN Cricinfo.

Finch talks about his technical adjustments

The Victorian is aware of his susceptibility to in-swinging deliveries. He thinks that he needs a little bit of extra time at the beginning of the match to become settled in. He proceeded by saying:

“The tendency to open up, which then has a little bit of a flow-on impact, is something that might happen when you are concerned about the ball swinging back into your front pad. I’m just trying to go back to a stance that’s a little bit more square and make sure that I’m giving myself every opportunity to get past the first five or six balls. After that, whether you’re playing Twenty20 or One-Day Internationals, you should be able to kind of flow on from there.”

Finch, who replaced Alex Hales with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2022, was unable to justify his selection. The Australian batsman only scored 86 runs over the course of five games, batting at 17.20, and scoring one half-century. However, he hit a 140.98 strike rate.

Before the World Cup, Aaron Finch emphasizes the importance of keeping a flexible mindset

The right-handed hitter went on to say that he anticipates the circumstances in Kandy and Colombo to be different from one another. He believes flexibility is essential when selecting how the squad should be configured.

“Not knowing what conditions we’re going to get for the T20s, I think Colombo and Kandy are so different. We’ve got to be flexible and adaptable and make sure that when we get to the World Cup we’ve got plenty of options that we can go with,” he said.

The first of three Twenty20 matches between Australia and Sri Lanka will take place in Colombo on June 7. Thus, marking the beginning of Australia’s one-month tour of Sri Lanka. Both teams will compete against one another in a total of two tests and five one-day internationals.
