Top Chelsea Star Now Wants Manchester United Move For More Game Time

Jose Mourinho

It was quite a mesmerising season for the English team in World Cup as they reached the Semifinal. England looked fluent in the whole campaign though they choked at last against Croatia in the semifinal. Harry Kane won the Golden Boot and England showed some real hopes to win the golden trophy too. The reason behind their success was obviously their defence where Maguire and Stones played their part quite impressively. England had other options like Gary Cahill in the bench, though Southgate used him only once in the tournament.

The 32-years-old English defender was one of the pivotal parts of Chelsea and he may leave the Stamford Bridge this time. Cahill is being rumoured to go out of Chelsea as the Blues are close in bringing Juventus centre-half, Daniele Rugani. Among the others, Manchester United is pointed to being the favourites to have Cahill as United manager Jose Mourinho is taking the preparations of without Chris Smalling and Phil Jones next season.

Cahill previously worked under the Portuguese for two-and-a-half years at Stamford Bridge where he won the Premier League title and League Cup together. There are a lot of Premier League clubs who showed interests for this England international. Wolves, West Ham, Everton and Liverpool are also after the English defender who is on the verge of his career. Cahill had seven honours during his six seasons in  London which includes two Premier League titles and the 2011/12 Champions League.

A move to the USA can also take place as the MLS clubs are also interested in this defender. Former United strikers Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the most recent stars who have gone to the USA after completing their golden saga in Premier League.
Rooney left Everton to link up with DC United and Ibrahimovic joined LA Galaxy.

On the other hand, Rugani may join Chelsea so that Chelsea can easily get over ageing Cahill. Under the recent Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, Rugani helped the Tuscans securing a grand return to the Italian top flight. They enjoyed an immaculate debut season in Serie A where they played every minute of every match without collecting a single booking.

When Rugani rejoined Juventus, the current manager Massimiliano Allegri demanded more aggression from the centre-half, though he never came up to the demands Allegri expected to him. Though this never proves his unworthiness.

Rugani has developed in Turin, though never performed that well what everyone expected from him. Though it was never easy to put himself in the shell of the Bianconeri legendary ‘BBC’ backline of Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini.

Allegri believed that he lacked something, not just physically but mentally. So it is clear that a move to London may initiate a greater and brighter career for the former Empoli defender where Chelsea can get rid of their ageing defender. Cahill had some serious good old memories for the Blues, which may remain with him until his last games as a footballer, though if he does move to Old Trafford, the Chelsea fans might not really like it.
