After Petit, Ashley Cole Also Urged Arsenal To Go For This Manager To Replace Emery

Ashley Cole who has played under Carlo Ancelloti during his stint at Stamford Bridge, backed Arsenal to sign the Italian national as soon as possible. Arsenal are struggling through a relatively rough season this year. Five wins in sixteen outings have only taken the Gunners to the ninth spot on the Premier League table. Unai Emery was forced to leave the Emirates stadium about a fortnight ago when the Spanish manager couldn’t help the club come out of this winless streak.

It’s Freddie Ljungberg who has acted as the interim manager after Emery’s departure. With only one win in four matches, Freddie also seems like a misfit. However, the former Chelsea man is not happy with the club looking to sign Arteta.

On the other hand, Napoli bid farewell to Carlo Ancelloti, who served a one year term at the Serie A club. Ancelloti was reported to have some serious differences with the Napoli management and so the chief decided to part ways just after the club had qualified for the knockout stage of UEFA Champions League by defeating Genk in a 4-0 tie.

Everton is another club has been trying to approach Carlo, as they have already let go of Marco Silva after the manager’s continuous failures at the Goodison Park.

Amidst all the other rumours, Ashley Cole, who has represented the Gunners for seven years and also spent some quality time under Carlo Ancelloti when they served at the Stamford Bridge came forward to advise his former club. He tried to convince the Arsenal management into hiring Carlo Ancelloti as the Italian may benefit the club with the vast experience he brings along.

“He has won so much in his career with Milan as a player and of course as a coach. When he talked, everyone listened. Now it would be great if he went to Arsenal. Carlo would bring togetherness, in terms of being a friend and someone who is not always serious,” he told the Sun.

Ashley Cole continued admiring Ancelloti when he recalled the way the Italian handled the team.

“You have to go out on a training pitch and have a laugh, to enjoy what you are doing and he brought that in training sessions with his coaching staff. But when you went to games he gave you that love, that push and the understanding of what it means to win games,” he added.

Ancelloti’s Resume includes two Champions League trophies and domestic success with Milan, Chelsea, Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich. Ashley’s ‘will bring togetherness’ comment caught a lot of attention as his belief in the manager came out open to display.

When asked if Ancelloti will be stepping down if he takes the Arsenal job, as the Gunners are not doing very well, Ashley Cole declined by saying, “No, I do not think Arsenal is step down for any manager. It is still a big club.”

Earlier Emmanuel Petit, again a former Arsenal star had urged on the same choice. Manchester City will visit the Emirates Stadium this Sunday. It will be a very important tie for both these teams.
