Arsenal Favourites To Sign This Top German Star At The End Of The Season

Arsenal are already on the lookout for players to sign this summer. They will reinforce in the defence, midfield and attack. Unai Emery, henceforth has a lot of work cut out over next few months. One of players that are already heavily linked with Arsenal is Belgian winger Leandro Trossard who’s having a brilliant season for Jupiler Pro League leaders Genk. The 24-year-old’s performances have caught attraction from various clubs across Europe and Genk will have no option but to sell him if they feel that a proper valuation of the player is offered by a club.

Trossard has been in sublime form this season having scored 22 goals and assisted 10 more in 44 appearances across all competitions for Genk. Emery’s scouting team has been tracking the player since November last year and this was confirmed by Josy Comhair who’s the player’s agent.

Comhair has again been speaking about interest from the Gunners, insisting that while a move to Germany would be a good option with the player linked to VfL Wolfburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, Arsenal is the “highest level”.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: “There is no agreement with any club yet. But I think that Germany is a beautiful country for him. You can take it one step higher via Germany.

“Because with Arsenal you are immediately at the highest level and you can almost only go down. But yes, it can also be Arsenal.”

“If you sell [Wilfred] Ndidi [to Leicester City] for €17m, you can sell Leandro for 20, you know. For less than €20m you don’t have Leandro,” he added.

Arsenal are expected to invest in the summer transfer window but a lot of it depends on whether they qualify for the Champions League or remain in the Europa League. Currently they are fifth in the Premier League with 1 match to go. They are in the semis of the Europa League and have won the first leg against Valencia and travel to the Mestalla this week with a tricky 3-1 lead. Emery’s men will look to score early to nullify Valencia’s away goal. Away form, however is a concern for Emery’s men this season and Valencia would need a 2-0 victory proceed which is not very much impossible for them.

Trossard is yet to be capped by Belgium but was called up to Roberto Martinez’s squad in a 2-0 victory over Cyprus in a European Championship qualifying match. It’s expected that Arsenal will outbid the linked competitors and the player might like to make a jump to London for sporting and financial reasons. Trossard is a versatile player who can also play as second striker or as a central attacking midfielder.

His versatility and technique is something which suits Unai Emery’ style of play and he will be a great fit for The Gunners if they are able to get his signature. However, this deal is surely a long way from being done at present and only time will tell whether the Gunners’ board is really ready to spend money on players or not.
