Everton might seek more than £60m for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports, with Arsenal, who is a leading candidate for his services.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Arsenal has been instructed to pay a large sum of money for the sale of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with Everton reportedly looking to extract the most possible value for their prized asset.
During his time at Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin made significant strides forward under previous boss Carlo Ancelotti, who made the most of his abilities. While under the guidance of Rafael Benitez, the 24-year-old forward has maintained his success, netting three goals in as many games at the start of the season as the Toffees had a strong start.
Since then, the English international has been sidelined due to fitness concerns, and his absence has coincided with Everton’s deterioration in form and a string of dismal outcomes. The Toffees have gone winless in their last eight Premier League games, and they will face Arsenal on the next matchday. They have greatly missed Calvert-presence Lewin’s in the starting lineup and will continue to do so for the next three weeks at the very least.
Arsenal’s interest in Calvert-Lewin was strong at one point
Everton manager Rafa Benitez recently remarked on the club’s transfer position, implying that the club may have to sell a few players to finance the acquisition of new players. Despite their financial difficulties, the club did not spend a lot of money on summer transfers, with Demarai Gray’s £2m signing from Bayer Leverkusen being their most costly acquisition.
Everton manager David Moyes said that the club’s board of directors was willing to spend money on quality players, but he also warned that they could need to balance the books. According to reports, certain valuable assets, including Calvert-Lewin, have to be sold, with Arsenal interested in acquiring him.
Mikel Arteta may have had a good summer, as shown by the signing of six first-team players. Arsenal’s manager, on the other hand, will have to decide on the club’s striker position. Aubameyang is out of form and set to depart the club when his contract expires in the summer, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are anticipated to leave when their contracts expire.
Furthermore, Aubameyang, 32, is not a long-term solution, and Arteta is willing to spend a lot of money to bring in a new leading striker for next season. There are worries about the possibility of signing a striker in January, and Lacazette might be retained until the conclusion of the season, however, the scenario could drastically alter by next summer.
Arsenal is prioritising a move for Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window, but they have maintained an eye on several other players in the position as well. Because of his experience and pedigree in the Premier League, the 24-year-old Everton striker might become the Gunners’ top target, and his characteristics are a good fit for the club’s needs.
Arsenal is in need of a striker
Arsenal is also allegedly interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina after presenting an increased offer to the Italian club. Everton, on the other hand, is wanting more than £60 million for their prized possession.
Arsenal’s current recruiting drive has shown their ability to spend money, as seen by the signing of Ben White from Manchester United. Because they paid £50 million to Brighton, the club showed a willingness to spend money on the correct players, and they may do the same for Calvert-Lewin.
Certainly, the north Londoners have the financial resources to match their goals and to add Calvert-Lewin to their increasing roster of English footballing superstars. It remains to be seen whether or not the English international will join Arsenal if the chance arises for him to do so.
