Barcelona is allegedly interested in signing Antony, a 21-year-old Brazilian striker nicknamed “the new Neymar.”
Barcelona is interested in signing Antony from Ajax, according to Spanish source Fichajes. The 21-year-old Brazilian attacker has been dubbed the “next Neymar”. He has shown an interest in playing in La Liga in the future.
Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in February 2020. It was later revealed that he would be Hakim Ziyech’s long-term replacement. That was following his transfer to Chelsea last summer. Since then, the Brazilian forward has done a lot to fill the hole left by the Moroccan international. He is now a regular for the Dutch giants.
In 50 games for Ajax, the 21-year-old has 11 goals and 12 assists to his credit. Antony has been compared to Neymar, a current idol in his nation. This is, despite the fact that he is not as productive as him. Barcelona has always taken note of his progress.
Barcelona is in pursuit of Antony; will it be possible for them to get the deal done?
Barcelona has been attempting to re-sign Neymar since he stunned the world four years ago. This was when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record transfer. That ship appears to have gone already, especially after Lionel Messi’s own summer move to PSG.
Barcelona looks to set the groundwork for long-term success, it is becoming obvious that a youthful core group will be formed, which will help them stay on track. As a result, Antony is a possible target for the Blaugrana, who has also been connected with Raheem Sterling, Oscar Romero, Angel Romero, and Luis Diaz.
As previously said, Antony is being dubbed the “next Neymar,” and if he does really prove to be a player in the mould of his compatriot, Barcelona would be wise to make a bid for him.
Antony has previously stated that he would like to play in La Liga in the future, although it is unknown whether he would prefer to join Barcelona or Real Madrid. For the time being, the 21-year-old Brazilian forward has caught Barcelona’s attention.
