La Liga giants Barcelona have rejected a recent offer coming from Premier League outfit Tottenham. The proposal was made for the signing of Emerson Royal, with the north London giants offering the Catalan giants cash plus a player. The player that was mentioned as part of the deal is Ivorian footballer Serge Aurier.
There is no doubt that Barca has been trying to solve their financial issues. The problem is the club has not been able to do it all in this window. Further, if Barcelona wants to continue to compete for titles, they need to be focused on getting things done the right way.
Keeping that in mind, the club has already let go of talisman Lionel Messi. The player left Catalonia after two decades and moved to Paris, where he joined PSG. This did not go down well with the fans and the club authorities and management will now want to be very careful with regards to the players that they let go of.
The Story About The Deal For Emerson Royal And The Offer By Tottenham Involving Serge Aurier
Tottenham had a change of manager at the start of the season when Nuno took charge. He has always been trying to get in more quality players that can add a new dimension to the team. The Portuguese boss has been keen on building his squad. That is so that he can challenge for some titles in the long run and make the much-needed impact at the club.
With that being said, the club was considering offloading one of their right-backs, as they had three (two main and one make-shift). Barcelona is in need of money and this attracted Tottenham to Emerson. Though the deal would not be easy, they tried to offer cash and a player.
Despite that, Barcelona said no and seem likely to consider only offers of full payment. This was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano as well.
Below is the Tweet that he sent out recently, that was picked up by media outlets-

Spurs’ director of football Fabio Paratici is looking to reshape the backline. Keeping that in mind, there is a need for fresh blood amongst the ranks. To achieve that goal and back Nuno further, the club will now look to add more talent amongst the ranks. Despite the pandemic, the north London club seems keen to be spending money.
That is something that they have shown already. Since signing Nuno, their owners have shown ambition without a doubt. This would have given the fans a little more confidence after a very slow start and the fact that Harry Kane was said to be considering a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.
However, Tottenham didn’t let that happen. Kane has stayed and now the focus is on reinforcing. That will be a huge boost for the team’s morale and the player’s confidence in particular. Let’s see what they can do under this new manager.
