Breaking: Liverpool Now Having Talks With This World Cup Star

It seems that Liverpool is set to finally bolster their defensive line by signing Croatian defender Domagoj Vida this summer transfer window. Jurgen Klopp has already made some high-quality signings in this summer transfer window in the form of Brazilian duo Alisson Becker and Fabinho who arrived from AS Roma and Monaco respectively. Liverpool also completed the signing of Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri earlier this month to add even more firepower to their attack and Naby Keita finally arrived at Anfield as well after Liverpool signed the Guinea midfielder last summer. However, the spending spree from the former Borussia Dortmund manager is not done just yet as he plans on bringing in another center-back in the form of Domagoj Vida.

Liverpool has been making a big splash over transfers in the last two seasons as Philippe Coutinho departed Anfield in the January transfer window to Barcelona. The Merseyside club decided to purchase a top class defender in Virgil Van Dijk. Liverpool broke the bank and spent £75m in order to secure the Dutchman’s services. Even though Van Dijk has improved the quality of Liverpool’s defense most of the Liverpool faithful are keen on signing a new defensive partner for the 27-year-old in order to compete for major honors.

Dejan Lovren was impressive for Croatia during the FIFA World Cup helping his side to the final of the major tournament. Lovren also played an important role for Liverpool’s qualification in the Champions League final but the 29-year-old lost both the finals. He has made costly errors in the past which have hampered his reputation as a defender. Joel Matip has also been putting in below average performances for the Red ever since joining the club. With Ragnar Klavan struggling for pace and youth, Joe Gomez seems rather inexperienced and error-prone.

Liverpool is struggling for centre-backs and is now keen on signing a top class defender in order to compete with the two Manchester clubs for the Premier League title. Lovren’s defensive partner for the World Cup Domagoj Vida impressed Klopp and the Reds are now eager for him to sign for Liverpool.

Vida plays his football at Turkish club Besiktas and is tied down to the club until the summer of 2022. Besiktas value him at around £26.8 million. Premier League side West Ham has already seen their £20m bid for Vida get rejected. But Liverpool has the deep pockets to offer Besiktas Vida’s valued price.

The 6-foot Croatian defender has is lethal and a no-nonsense type defender. Aerially Vida is a threat and boon in attack as well as defense. Vida is naturally a centre back but can slot on the wide areas of the back line as well. With Liverpool in talks with Besiktas over a deal, the Anfield faithful will be hoping that the 29-year-old signs for the English giants.

The Reds have looked rather poor defensively and will want to sort this issue out as soon as possible. They have already signed Alisson and it is high time now to get the back-line sorted too for Klopp and his team.
