Community Shield Preview: Why This Could Be The Most Crucial Game For Chelsea’s Season Already

Chelsea will play against Manchester City in the Community Shield Final match at Wembley on Sunday. The match is going to be highly interesting as it will be the first match of the new manager Maurizio Sarri for the Blues. It will also be the first match of Maurizio Sarri at Wembley in his managerial career. Sarri is really excited to play his first match at Wembley. On the other hand, it will be a match to test their strength of the squad ahead of the beginning of the new Premier League season.

Community Shield Final match is played between the Premier League winner and the FA Cup winner of the previous season. Chelsea have won the FA Cup in the previous season and Manchester City have won the Premier League in the previous season. So, both the sides will meet each other in the Community Shield match on Sunday at Wembley.

Team News :

Chelsea :

After completion of the World Cup, still few players of Chelsea have not joined the training yet. Ruben Loftus Cheek was in the squad of England in the World Cup. They went to the Semifinal of the World Cup too but were defeated against Belgium. The English players have joined their subsequent clubs after the vacation. But the Belgian players have still not returned to the squad of both the sides.

Willian and Ruben Loftus Cheek have just returned from the vacation and joined the training session of the team under the management of the new manager of Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri. On the other hand, some new players of the Blues are playing well in the preseason. So it will be a good headache for Maurizio Sarri to decide his first eleven for this match against Manchester City. As per reports, Ruben Loftus Cheek and Willian are going to play in the second half for the Blues in this important match of the season.

Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Michy Batshuayi have still not returned from vacation after the World Cup. Also, the World Cup winners N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud have not joined the training session for the Blues. They are going to join the training session of Chelsea early in the next week.

Manchester City :

Pep Guardiola will almost have a full squad in his hand to play against Chelsea in the Community Shield Final match. The likes of Sergio Aguero, Nicolas Otamendi have already returned from the vacation after the World Cup. Only injury concern could be the new signing of Manchester City- Riyad Mahrez. But, Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Algerian winger will surely take part in the Community Shield Final match against Chelsea on Sunday at Wembley.

Predicted Starting Eleven :

Goalkeeper : Willy Caballero.

Defenders : Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso.

Midfielders : Jorginho, Fabregas, Ross Barkley.

Attackers : Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

Manchester City : (4-3-3)

Goalkeeper : Ederson Moraes.

Midfielders : David Silva, Fernandinho, Phil Foden.

Attackers : Riyad Mahrez, Sergio  Aguero, Leroy Sane.

My Predicted Scoreline :

Most Crucial Match Already?

City are the reigning champions of England and majority fans feel that this is their game to lose. They are the favourites to win the Community Shield based on team-strength and form and it will take something special from the west London outfit to dethrone their rivals on the night. With that being said, a win for Sarri’s side could get their rivals nervous who face Arsenal next week and already create a dent in their confidence, as they look to defend the Premier League title.
