Manchester United Open Talks With This Barcelona Star

Barcelona has received offers from several Premier League clubs for Nelson Semedo. Manchester United are the ones most interested in him. Nelson Semedo lost his place to Sergi Roberto at the start of the season. The right-back from Portugal was included in Barca’s first team when Roberto got injured. There is a lot of speculations over Nelson Semedo’s future in Barcelona. Currently, his contract extension talks with Barcelona have also stalled.

Semedo is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspurs for a long time. Manchester City is also in this race as they are looking to swap Joao Cancelo with Nelson Semedo. However, according to Catalan newspaper SPORT, Manchester United are also interested in signing Semedo now. The right-back is no longer untouchable in the squad. SPORT states that the Red Devils have opened the transfer talks with Nelson Semedo. The report also claims that the Portuguese is not 100 percent happy at the Nou Camp. So, he will want to move to a club where he can play regularly.

Manchester United have gone big for the right back in the past few years. The Red Devils paid close to £20m to sign Diego Dalot. Jose Mourinho highly rated him. Manchester United even paid a huge £50m in 2018 summer to sign Wan-Bissaka.

However, SPORT still believes that United will bid for Nelson Semedo. FC Barcelona will also accept an offer which they find appropriate for the right back. However, Semedo has a mammoth release clause of €100m. This could be a huge barrier for clubs to go for him. The current coronavirus pandemic has crippled the economic situation of all the clubs across Europe. So, the clubs will not be in any such position to pay the huge release clauses of the players.

What Next For All Parties?

Barcelona earlier even offered Semedo as a part of the Nelson Semedo deal. Inter Milan have permitted Barcelona to add players in the deal. However, the Italian side prefers the Brazillian midfielder Arthur. Barcelona, on the other hand, is not looking to part ways with Arthur Melo.

So, Barcelona may even trade Nelson Semedo to bring Lautaro Martinez to Camp Nou this summer. Now, we have to wait and see what finally turns out.

The Phillipe Coutinho Story So Far-

The Brazilian is said to leave Barcelona soon, with Chelsea looking like a potential destination. He is likely to be part of a swap deal for N’Golo Kante. Keeping that in mind, Barca could be looking for some reinforcements.

The Catalan giants will be looking for stars who can really make a difference to their team. Their ambition is to win the Champions League title in the near future. Their over-dependency on Lionel Messi has the problem for the La Liga holders. They will want to bring in more stars who can carry the burden of the team.

They clearly need more prolific goal-scorers, with Luiz Suarez, also said to be looking for his exit. It will be interesting to see how the stories develop now.
