Match Report: Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City, As De Bruyne Puts City On Top

Manchester City have emerged victorious from the Derby after a very entertaining match which resulted in a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford against the Red Devils, Goals from Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne and City’s young starlet Kelechi Iheanacho put the visitors 2 goals ahead of the hosts with and Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the net before the end of the first half. Manchester City dominated the possession and kept United from creating any kind of chances for most part of the game, and deservedly won an entertaining and a thrilling Derby over the Red Devils and have reached the top of the Premier League table.

The Citizen’scompletely dominated the entire first half through possession and in terms of attacking too, They kept the possession and controlled the action thanks to a outstanding performance by Kevin De Bruyne, who did everything on the pitch today to ensure his team emerge victorious he gave good passes, createdchances and also scored. His goal in the first half came after a smart anticipation he took the ball from Daily Blind and put the visitors a goal ahead. Twenty minutes later De Bruyne made a great chance for himself and took a shot which hit the post and basically assisted Iheanacho, who made no mistake put the ball in to make it 2-0 for City.

However City’s defense made some defensive errors and let Manchester United back in the game. First, Debutant Claudio Bravo made a terrible mistake when he tried to save a cross and the ball went to Zlatan Ibrahimovic who made no mistake and scored United’s first and only goal . The Swedish superstar also had two other clear chances just a few minutes later but Bravo and Stones kept him away from scoring the equalizer for the Red Devils.

Manchester City began the final half of the game in a ugly manner, They failed to keep the ball and conceded spaces to a more attacking United side, Mourhino made changes to become more stronger in midfield and hurt City’s full-backs.

After a very good 20 minutes of display in the second half, Manchester United failed to create any real scoring chances for themselves, and by then City had made a come back to the game and regained control of possession in midfield. Marcus Rashford had a very good goal denied by the linesman as Ibrahimovic was in an offside position and had interfered with the play.

De Bruyne had a very good opportunity in a fast counter-attack which was created by Sané but the Belgian international’s shot hit the post and rolled through the goal line before going out for a goal kick. Mourinho bought in Martial trying to find an equalizer, but City’s defense stayed strong and held on to a key result, theh even survived FIVE MINUTES of the stoppage time.

In the end it was a great Manchester Derby a strong performance from both the sides which is expected in a big-game environment, and a huge win for Manchester City that might have implications later on this campaign.
