Mikel Arteta Sends Out A Message For His Arsenal Players

Arsenal

Arsenal manager left frustrated yet again after the Gunners faced a shocking defeat to relegation-threatened Brighton Home Albion last weekend. Nicholas Pepe scored an absolute beauty to give his side the lead before Brighton equalized. Brighton forward Neil Maupey scored a late winner in injury time to win all 3 points for the Albions. Arsenal players left frustrated even more after the injury to their goalkeeper Bernd Leno following a clash with Maupey. All the Gunners’ players were showing their anger towards the Brighton forward after the final whistle as the German goalkeeper pointed at Maupey before leaving the pitch.

“When we show frustration we have to show it in the right way. I have not seen the images (of Guendouzi) or what happened, but we will talk about it if that is the case. Emotionally, we have to control the situations much better.”

Back to back away defeats left Arsenal at 10th position in the Premier League table. The Gunners are struggling to get back to their rhythm after coming from the long break. Qualification for next season’s Uefa Champions League looks more difficult now as they are nine points behind fifth-placed Manchester United with eight games to go. Arsenal’s boss defends his team saying his team is still very young to compete at this level and it will require time to give results what fans expect.

Arteta explains Guendouzi omission from Newcastle victory ...

What Arteta And Tierney Went On To Add?

“I think every game is completely different. When I was talking about competing, there are details when you go ahead and game management-wise where we have to improve a lot. But we are a very young squad. I do not want to use it as an excuse because it is still a football game and it does not matter at what age you are competing, but at this level, you can’t do it.”

“Obviously it is not the result we wanted or the result we had worked hard for, but it is something we need to deal with,” Tierney tells Sky Sports.

“The bus journey was quiet on the way home, but I think we have reacted well in training. We have got a point to prove and we need to go out there and get the results that the manager wants and the fans deserve.”

What Maupey Said About The Arsenal Players?

Brighton’s French forward accused the North London side of having a lack of humility and respect after he was attacked by their players on the pitch. Matteo Guendouzi caught Maupey’s throat in anger as the referee went on to calm the situation down. Maupey said in a post-match conference that Arsenal got the result which they deserved.

Neil Maupey said after the narrow win over the North London giants, “Arsenal players maybe need to learn humility sometimes. They were talking a lot. They got what they deserved.”

“I just went to get the ball really. When he landed he twisted his knee. It is football, there is contact. I never meant to hurt him. I apologize again and wish him a speedy recovery.”
