The Prithvi Shaw Story- The Delhi Capitals opener smashed a 41 ball 82 with a perfect strike rate of 200 against struggling Kolkata Knight Riders in their game in Ahmedabad in the Indian Premier League. Captain Rishav Pant took an early advantage by winning the toss and bowling first in chasing favourable conditions. Despite a good start in the power play this time KKR collapsed in the middle phase. They were 45/1 after six overs but Rahul Tripathy, Eoin Morgan, Sunil Narine and Shubman Gill went to the pavilion quickly. Andre Russell helped them to score 154 but surely it was below par.
The Posts By Prachi Singh About Prithvi Shaw That Went Viral
Prithvi Shaw hit six boundaries in the first over of KKR’s young pacer Shivam Mavi and after that, it was no way back for Eoin Morgan’ side. Pat Cummins took three wickets later but it was just a consolation.
Shaw’s rumoured girlfriend Prachi Singh took Instagram stories to share her excitements after Prithvi earned the man of the match against KKR. In her first story, she said, “I am proud of you.” In the second one, it was a cute joke about his all awards last night.
What Sehwag Told Cricbuzz About The Delhi Capitals Opener?
Former Delhi opener Virender Sehwag gave high praise to the 21-year-old saying Shaw played an incredible inning and even Sehwag could not manage to hit six fours in an over in his entire career. Which shows that the batsman was perfect in his timing and also placement.
“Smashing six boundaries off all the six balls means playing. He played every ball through the perfect gap, which is not easy. I have opened in my career and had thought of smashing all the six balls so many times. Despite that, I got a maximum of 18 or 20 odd runs. I could not always hit six boundaries or six sixes. For that, you need to be perfect with your timing and find those gaps.”
“Undoubtedly, Shaw was excellent with the bat. He did not look as if he has come to play a cricket match. Or maybe it was just the confidence of playing with Shivam Mavi in the U-19 team that he knew where the bowler would bowl exactly. I have batted against Ashish Nehra so many times in nets. The domestic games would never help me hit him for six boundaries in an over. Hats off to Prithvi Shaw for such a fantastic innings.”
“It would have been more exciting if he had got a hundred. He has gone through tough times already. But now, when the runs were coming, he must have scored a hundred or remained unbeaten and finished the chase.”
Delhi Captain Rishabh Pant was also very pleased after his side came back to win after a 1-run defeat in the previous game. Pant says Shaw can do wonders if given the right confidence and support.
“He is a talented player and we all know that for a fact. If you give him the confidence to back himself, he can do wonders. Was only telling him to play the normal game. In this kind of match, we can relax a bit and can afford to think of a run rate.”
Shaw is now in the third position in the Orange cap race behind Shikhar Dhawan and Faf Du Plessis. All he needs to do is now be consistent till the end of the season. The chances will surely be there to score more runs. He has learnt from his mistakes already. That is what seems to be the case and has come back stronger. Let’s wait and watch how many runs he can score now in the upcoming weeks!!
