Chelsea edged past Watford on Saturday to stay at the third position in the League table with 23 points from 11 matches so far in this season. It was an important three points for Frank Lampard’s side, as they managed to stay in the top four position of the League table. Chelsea were defeated by Manchester United in the pre-quarter-final of Carabao Cup on Wednesday. So, Chelsea’s unbeaten streak in all competitions ended with that defeat. Frank Lampard’s boys were determined to get all three points from this match and they were able to do so.
There were quite a few changes in the starting lineup of Chelsea in this match. Kepa Arrizabalaga came back under the bars. Kurt Zouma was the only player in the defence who played in the match against Manchester United on Wednesday. Fikayo Tomori, Cesar Azpilicueta and Emerson Palmieri came back after a rest of one week. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Willian were also back in the team for the Blues in this match.

Tammy Abraham was not able to score in the last few matches for the Blues after having a wonderful start of the season. It was a brilliant finish from him as he chipped the ball over the head of Ben Foster. Chelsea were brilliant in the first half. They created many opportunities, but Ben Foster made some tremendous saves to keep the scoreline 1-0 till the end of the first half at Vicarage Road.
At the beginning of the second half, Ben Foster was able to save a powerful shot of Mason Mount. However, Chelsea doubled up the lead when Tammy Abraham provided a brilliant ball towards Christian Pulisic who scored from an unmarked position. After doubling the lead, there were some casual errors committed by the Blues. At that moment, Jorginho fouled Deulofeu inside the penalty box and VAR confirmed the penalty kick for Watford. Deulofeu did not commit any mistake to put the ball inside the Goal.
After conceding the ball there were few nervy moments inside the penalty box of Chelsea. Callum Hudson Odoi, Michy Batshuyai and Reece James were brought in the field to keep the lead till the end. At the last minute of the match, Kepa Arrizabalaga made a brilliant save to secure all three points for the Blues from this match.
