Revealed: The Reason Why Real Madrid Has Not Seen The Real Eden Hazard So Far

The Chelsea icon has not shown his class in his first season in Spain. There were huge expectations for the brilliant Belgian at the Santiago Bernabeu before his arrival for £130m from Chelsea last summer. Madrid fans were on cloud nine to see Hazard kissing the Real Madrid badge on his presentation day. But those excitements have come short since then after an awful first campaign. Hazard has been sidelined most of the time due to injuries and for issues with his overweight.

The Belgian declared Real Madrid his dream club on the day of his unveiling.

“I have dreamt about this since I was little, I always supported Real Madrid. I will try to be the best in the world.”

He scored 21 goals for Chelsea last season which was his final season in London. This season he has found the net only once in 15 appearances for the Spanish Giants.

The Ronaldo Factor

“My first season at Madrid has been bad – but not all of it. It has been a season of adaptation. I will be judged on the second one. It is up to me to be in good shape next year.”

It is not the first time Hazard has had a bad year in his career. In the season 2015-16, he literally took a year off through injuries and off form. He did not even cross ten-goal mark that season in all competitions for Chelsea.

In the seven seasons in Chelsea colours, he won every trophy in England winning the Premier League twice. He also won the Europa League a couple of times for the Blues before moving to Spain. Real Madrid bought Hazard to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.

A void equals to 450 goals. Eden Hazard is not known for his fluent goal-scoring ability and he admits taking the number 7 shirt is not easy. Hazard is very different in structure to Cristiano Ronaldo in both physically and in the air. He is not a player that will score 50 goals a season what Ronaldo used to do and that is for sure. Real Madrid needs another galactic with Eden to fill that kind of void. Hazard signed a five-year-contract for Real Madrid and he is determined to show his class in the next four years.

Eden Hazard Is Polarizing Opinion At Real Madrid

About The Team

“The group is good; it has been a great experience for me. I still have four years on my contract. We will have another year in 2021, which is a shame, but my ankle will allow me to get back in shape,” he said.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all the leagues in Europe have been suspended until further notice. The Euro 2020 competition has been postponed until next year. Like all of us, Hazard is also disappointed for it and explains his frustration.

“I think it is difficult for the fans because they want to see an international tournament every summer, which is a shame for them. But I also think there are priorities in life.”

The fans will be hoping that the player can produce some of his better football next year. For now, he is busy eating buns in Spain, as confirmed by him recently.
