Talking Points: Arsenal 1-1 Leicester City; Another Two Points Stolen From The Gunners

Arsenal

It was an exhilarating contest between Arsenal and Leicester City. The two sides took on each other at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. Both the sides had suffered a poor start to their campaign since the return of the league. They looked determined to get the better of each other. However, the match between the Gunners and Leicester ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Londoners were the first to open the scoring via Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal skipper met an inch-perfect cross from Bukayo Saka. He did not make any mistake to slot it past Kasper Schmeichel to bring up the first goal of the match. The first half ended in 1-0 in favour of the hosts.

In the second half, however, the visitors started to gain pace. They kept getting into the dangerous areas more often than not. They equalised through Jamie Vardy as the Englishman fired it into the net. This was after he was fed a tantalising through ball into the box by Demarai Gray. Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah received a red card in the 75th minute for a dangerous tackle on opposition player James Justin.

Key talking points from this match are as follows-

Arsenal’s Strike Force

Though their defence has not been able to live up to the mark, the attack of the Gunners has looked stellar. This has helped them to be able to make inroads on a regular basis in the opposition box. The likes of Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette looked in absolute ominous touch against the Foxes, showing how lethal they can be while playing together against any opposition.

Young Guns Of Arsenal Perform Well

The Arsenal young guns have done well to make their mark this season and more so since the restart. Bukayo Saka, who has improved leaps and bounds, was once again in great touch against the Foxes and made them pay for their sloppy defending efforts. Kieran Tierney, who has had an injury-struck season so far, also showed his capability both as an attacker as well as a defender as he dished out a decent performance in the match against the Foxes. In the absence of Bernd Leno, Emiliano Martinez has also shouldered the responsibility of keeping the goal safe and was unfortunate to not have another clean sheet under his belt.

Next Up For Arsenal: Tottenham

It is undoubtedly the biggest clash as far as the London teams are concerned. The giants from north London look to take on each other in a needle clash in the Premier League. Given the current situation of both sides, as Arsenal and Tottenham stand on the seventh and eighth positions respectively in the league table, the match is going to be even more important. Both sides are still looking to finish the season in the top six.

However, speaking on the possibility of a sixth-place finish in the Premier League this season, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho said after his side’s win against Everton, “If that doesn’t happen it’s not the end of the world, it’s probably the beginning of a new world.”
