Talking Points: Chelsea Vs Arsenal, As Blues Beat Gunners For Europa League Triumph

Chelsea won the Europa League final this season against Arsenal with ease. The Blues trashed the Gunners at Baku with a margin of 4-1. It was certainly a big win for the Blues as it was the first trophy in the managerial career of Maurizio Sarri. After 30 years, he finally won a trophy. However, the camp of the Blues are not fully happy with the win as the best player on the pitch, Eden Hazard is all set to leave Stamford Bridge in this summer transfer window. The manager of the Blues, Maurizio Sarri is also linked with a move to Juventus in the next season. However, both the deals have not been finalized yet as both of them want to cherish the winning moment for few more days.

Here are the talking points for the match between Chelsea and Arsenal in the Europa League final.

1. Arsenal’s Dominance In The First 25 Minutes :

The Gunners started off the game quite convincingly. Arsenal were attacking with all their resources. Between the two managers, Unai Emery was more attacking than Maurizio Sarri. Unai Emery went with a typical 3-4-3 formation with two attacking minded wingbacks while Maurizio Sarri went with a conventional 4-3-3 formation. It was certainly a match to watch out for the football fans all over the World.

Arsenal started attacking from both the wings. Sead Kolasniac and Ainsley Maitland Niles played a big part in this. The likes of Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira were providing long balls towards them. These two wingbacks caused a lot of problems for the Blues in first 25 minutes of the match.

2. Brilliant Display Of Chelsea In The Second Half :

After the initial scare of opening 25 minutes of the match, the Blues started to make a comeback in the match. The Blues got the first goal of the match at the 49th minute against the run of play. Olivier Giroud’s header from the cross provided by Emerson Palmieri did not give Petr Cech a chance to save it. Chelsea scored another 3 goals in the second half of the match to seal the win for them.

3. Arsenal’s Defensive Flaws Let Them Down :

The communication gap between the centre-backs of the Gunners were the reason of their downfall in this match. Chelsea players got enough space to exploit the defense of the Gunners. In a crucial moment of the match, Ainsley Maitland Niles fouled Olivier Giroud in the penalty box. Eden Hazard perfectly placed the ball inside the Goal to make the scoreline 3-1 in favour of the Blues.

4. Eden Hazard’s Individual Brilliance Took The Game Away From The Gunners :

It was probably the last match for Eden Hazard for the Blues. He tried to give his best in the field. From the beginning of the match, his dribbling were causing problems for the Arsenal defenders. He took the game away from the Gunners with two goals in the Final.

5. An Off Day For The Striking Duo Of The Gunners :

It was an off day for Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. Both of them were not clinical and they failed to create any momentum for the Gunners. The back-line of the Blues defended well to prevent the attacking threat of this striking duo through out the whole match.
