The season of Indian Premier League has concluded just a few days ago. The next season, IPL 2021 is going to take place after five months. The talks are ongoing that one new team might be added in the next season. If that happens, there will be a mega auction. In the mega auction, the teams will have to rebuild completely.

Here is the list of three players that the bottom teams should retain in their squad for the next season (IPL 2021)-

1. Kolkata Knight Riders:

Kolkata Knight Riders have finished at 14 points after the end of the league stage. However, they have not been able to qualify for the playoffs because of lower net run rate. The team management of Kolkata Knight Riders should retain their captain Eoin Morgan in their side. The leadership quality of Eoin Morgan is beyond any doubt. Eoin Morgan has scored crucial runs for the franchise in this season. The presence of such a batsman in the middle order will certainly solidify their position in the next season. The young Indian batsman, Shubman Gill should also be retained. The opening batsman of Kolkata Knight Riders has been consistent throughout the whole season and he should be an automatic choice for the franchise to retain at this moment.

They can think of him as the captain in future. Sunil Narine has been giving service to the franchise from 2012. He has led Kolkata Knight Riders to win two trophies in 2012 and 2014. He has to face various problems regarding his action. However, his economic bowling and pinch-hitting ability can still be an asset for any side. So, the franchise might think to retain him as well.

2. Kings XI Punjab:

Kings XI Punjab should retain their captain KL Rahul in the next season. KL Rahul has won the orange cap this season. KL Rahul has been an asset for this side. Mohammed Shami has bowled really well throughout the whole tournament. He has picked important wickets in regular interval for his side. Nicholas Pooran can also be retained by the franchise. He has shown his ability to change the course of the match singlehandedly.

3. Chennai Super Kings:

Ravindra Jadeja has been a great finisher for Chennai Super Kings in last few seasons. His left-arm spin will also be effective in Indian condition. Deepak Chahar has bowled quite well in the powerplay. He can move the ball two ways and that makes him a dangerous bowler in the first few overs of the match. Sam Curran has been a revelation for Chennai Super Kings this season. His all-round ability will certainly be an asset for the franchise in future. These three players should be retained by Chennai Super Kings in the mega auction.

4. Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals should retain Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Sanju Samson in the mega auction. Jofra Archer has won the most valuable player award this season. He has been brilliant with the ball this season. Sanju Samson has also shown his class with the bat. He can be an asset in the middle order for Rajasthan Royals in near future.

5. Mumbai Indians:

Mumbai Indians should retain their captain Rohit Sharma in the mega auction. Rohit Sharma has been the most successful captain of Indian Premier League with 5 titles under his leadership. They will certainly retain their star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah along with Hardik Pandya who can change the course of the match anytime.

6. Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capitals will like to retain their young captain Shreyas Iyer. On the other hand, the experience of Shikhar Dhawan is invaluable for them. They will certainly retain the purple cap holder of the season, Kagiso Rabada in the next season.

7. Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad will like to retain their captain David Warner along with Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan in the mega auction. These three players are really important for their side and the management will certainly back them.

8. Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Royal Challengers Bangalore might need a complete turnaround after 13 trophyless seasons. Still, the management will like to retain Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal in the mega auction.

What Next For IPL 2021?

After the success of IPL 2020, the next season’s tournament is just five to six months away. As confirmed by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, it will be held in India (mostly). If that is the case, these talents could really make a major impact in the upcoming IPL. Let’s hope that IPL 2021 is as grand as this year’s edition.
