Why Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Is Just Another Brendan Rodgers in Disguise

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is the manager of Liverpool FC at present. He had taken the charge of Liverpool on 8th October, 2015 after Brendan Rodgers was sacked with 5 consecutive 1-1 draw in last six matches that time. Liverpool were tenth in the league table then with 8 matches played. Liverpool were undoubtedly in trouble and they had appointed Jurgen Klopp as the manager who had previously coached German club Borussia Dortmund and helped them to reach the final of UEFA Champions League and also won Bundeliga, DFB Pokal Cup and German Super Cup many times for them.

But after coming to Liverpool Jurgen Klopp also could not able to give Liverpool FC any big trophies in these recent years. They had managed to get to the final of the League Cup in the 2015-16 season and they had lost against Manchester City in the tie breaker. Jurgen Klopp had given Liverpool the taste of an European final that season by reaching the last lap of the Europa League. But they had lost to Sevilla with a margin of 3-1.

Liverpool came back in the Champions League after missing it two seasons in a row by finishing at 4th in the League Table of Premier League previous season and had beaten Hoffenheim in the qualifier to reach the group stage of UEFA Champions League this season. But they are not having a great run this season in the Premier League and are already out of the League Cup by losing against Leicester City in the third round very recently.

Brendan Rodgers was appointed as Liverpool manager on 1st June, 2012 after Kenny Daglish left the club. In his first season Liverpool finished 7th in the Premier League and wasn’t able to win any other big trophies that season.

The 2013-14 season was the best season of Brendan Rodgers’ spell at Liverpool. They were on the verge of winning the League but had slipped off against Chelsea by losing 2-0 and had drawn against Crystal Palace with a scoreline of 3-3 where they were ahead 3-0 in the greater portion off the match. Liverpool had scored their club record 101 goals that season since 1895 and it was the third highest in the Premier League history also. Brendan Rodgers was awarded LMA Manager of The Year that season which was also the first one received by any Liverpool manager in it’s 20 years’ history.

The season 2015-16 was a bad one for Brendan Rodgers. They were eliminated from the Group Stage of the Champions League with a draw against FC Basel in the final group match. They were also out of the Europa League as they had lost against Besiktas in the tiebreaker. They had lost against Aston Villa in the FA Cup Semi Final that season and finished 6th in the League Table.

The 2015-16 season also began terribly for Liverpool and Rodgers was sacked right after the Merseyside Derby after a 1-1 draw. It was their 5th 1-1 draw in their last six matches and they were only able to win 1 out of their last 9 matches.

The Stats That Matter-

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool Career :
Total Matches Played : 108
Matches Won : 54
Matches Drawn : 31
Matches Lost : 23
Win Percentage : 50.0

Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool Career :
Total Matches Played : 166
Matches Won : 83
Matches Drawn : 41
Matches Lost : 42
Win Percentage : 50.0

Jurgen Klopp had a match winning percentage of approximately 55.6 when he was the manager of Borussia Dortmund, but his winning percentage has been decreased to 50.0 as the Liverpool manager which is just replicating the match winning percentage of Liverpool’s previous manager Brendan Rodgers.

Klopp and Rodgers both were not be able to win big trophies for Liverpool which they have been lacking for years.

So it can concluded that Jurgen Klopp is just superimposing the way of Brendan Rodgers in his Liverpool career and has no real hope of winning big trophies for Liverpool in the  upcoming days.
