According to the latest reports, La Liga giants Real Madrid are in advanced talks with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba over a move in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils talisman stated earlier in the season that it would be his dream to play for Los Blancos and now, under Zinedine Zidane’s management, his dream may become a reality.

Ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid to Juventus last summer in a stunning £100m deal, the Spanish giants have not really looked the same. The 34-year-old Portuguese talisman has netted 450 times for Real Madrid and left the Santiago Bernabeu as the club’s all-time top goalscorer since joining the club from Manchester United nine seasons ago.

Real Madrid have had a disastrous time since Ronaldo left the club as they were dumped out of the Champions League by Ajax as they were humiliated 4-1 in their own backyard. Madrid currently sit in third place, 13 points behind fierce rivals and La Liga leaders Barcelona in the Spanish table.

The Catalonians also knocked out Real Madrid in the Cope Del Rey over two legs in the tie and that made the Champions League holders sack two managers and reappoint Zinedine Zidane to take over the club.

Real Madrid are crying out for a big name player and have been linked with signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The World Cup-winning Frenchman is enjoying a fabulous campaign with the English giants this season netting 15 times and notching up five assists as well. Under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Pogba has looked like a completely different player. Solskjaer strung together a bunch of positive results in the Premier League and is now in contention to finish inside the top four.

The Red Devils also reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion after trailing 2-0 against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain to overcome them in the second leg 3-1 at the Parc des Princes. However, over the past few weeks, results haven’t gone United’s way as they have lost six out of their last eight games across all competitions. Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League against Barcelona as they suffered a 4-0 aggregate thrashing followed by another 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Merseyside club Everton on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Pogba has come under serious criticism over the recent past and has been scapegoated for United’s poor run. Reports claim that his head has now turned and Real Madrid are already in advanced talks to lure the star midfielder to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.

Pogba arrived at Old Trafford for a mammoth transfer fee of €105m from Serie A side Juventus in 2016 but his consistency has been a major issue in England. Pogba now looks to play elsewhere at a different club to win more trophies and honours rather than sticking with United in this slump of a period.

Even the prospect of working alongside national compatriot Zinedine Zidane will be playing on Pogba’s mind, which may pull him to the Bernabeu.
