Wow! This Superstar Could Have Chosen Real Madrid Over Arsenal

What Could Have Happened?

There has been a lot of speculation over Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez’ future, but for now, he remains at Arsenal. The Chilean winger was reportedly offered to European champions Real Madrid on transfer deadline day. Manchester City was keen on bringing Sanchez to the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger did not want his prized asset to leave the club. However, just a few days after Liverpool thrashed Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield, Sanchez was quite seemingly wanting a move away from the North London club.

However, recent reports claim that Wenger wanted to let go of Sanchez to Real Madrid on the last day of the transfer window, though the La Liga champions declined a move.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane already has many talents and superstars in his squad, and may not have required Sanchez at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite having a luxurious squad, an addition of Sanchez would only add strength to it, but Real Madrid knows that they could get their man for free next summer.

The 28-year-old superstar is into the final months of his contract with the Gunners before he becomes a free player.

The Chilean however, has stated that he is still focused on giving his 100 percent for his current team. He said in a recent interview, “100 per cent. Your interest is always to perform, it was not very close. It’s very difficult for me to speak about that because what I want the player to do is now focus on his career, on his season and on Arsenal football club.”

Reports also claimed that Madrid accepted a £60m bid for Sanchez, but as Arsenal could not get in AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, the Gunners did not wish to complete the deal. Obviously, Wenger did not want to sell Sanchez to Manchester City as they are direct rivals in the league. Also, the Spanish giants would be willing to offer more in terms of transfer fees for a high-quality player like Sanchez.

Imagine Ronaldo And Sanchez In The Same Side!!

Imagine if the deal had gone through and the player had moved to the Bernabeu. The pairing of Ronaldo and Sanchez up front, would have just been deadly and would have killed off any opposition defence. The reigning champs of Spain and Europe have been struggling this term and Zidane’s job is under threat.

If the attacker had made the return to Spain, he could have been had much more chances to shine at Madrid. However, the deal did not go through then and now he is happy to be at The Theater of Dreams. It will be interesting to see though, if he can actually play under Jose Mourinho in the long run, who is a defence minded manager, whether everyone agrees to this fact or not.

A world-class player playing side by side with another one, the combination would have been deadly, though now the only place we will be able to see the two player together will be a fantasy league or a FIFA/PES team.
