It has been now confirmed that long-term Blues’ target Radja Nainggolan is all set to sign a new contract with Serie A outfit AS Roma in the upcoming days. The midfield superstar who was said to be on Chelsea’s radar for quite some time now is on the verge of signing a new deal with Italian giants, which will prolong his stay at the Stadio Olimpico. New manager Antonio Conte was reportedly interested in bringing the Belgian international to Stamford Bridge after an impressive performance at UEFA Euro 2016, which had caught his attention.
However, the 28-year-old has decided not to make a move away from the Italian capital and is now on the verge of extending his contract with his current club, with a lot of top clubs from Europe looking to sign him.
The decision to renew his contract would leave Conte looking for other options in the January transfer window with Cesc Fabregas’ future with the west Londoners still being under scrutiny, though the manager has now started giving him the credit that he rightly deserves slowly.
The Blues are in need of more options in order to strengthen their midfield and will now look at various other potential targets, who could fit into Conte’s team and help them perform at the top level day in and day out.
It will be interesting to see what happens next, after a failed transfer saga that lasted for quite some time now and eventually yielded nothing out of it.
