Match Report: Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Arsenal, As Gunners Start Off Champions League Campaign With a Draw

Arsenal made the trip to the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, as they were up against the Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the opening game of their Champions League campaign. The Gunners went into the match at the back of a narrow 2-1 win over Southampton in the league and were hoping to start off their campaign in Europe with a win as well.

Arsene Wenger would have bee hoping that his side can perform well in the match and in the competition overall, though he would have been a bit stunned by the start to the match.

The visitors went down by a goal in 42 seconds, as Edison Cavani broke quite a few records with his early goal. The Uruguayan international had plenty of chances in the game to add to his initial one, though he wasted chance after chance.

On the other hand, the Premier League giant tried their best to equalize, though there were no more goals in the first half.

Eventually it was Alexis Sanchez who made it 1-1 in the 77th minute to give his team a point. David Ospina was the man of the match for the Londoners, as he kept the home side out on a number of occasions.

The match ended with Olivier Giroud and Marco Verratti being sent off with a second yellow each, which meant that both sides ended the match with 10 men each. It was a game of chances wasted and saved, as the finishing was quite poor on the night from the two teams.
