Match Report: Wow! Real Madrid Complete Stunning Comeback To Beat Sport 2-1

Real Madrid completed a superb late comeback to beat Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in their opening fixture of the new Champions League season, as Zinedine Zidane’s team looks to defend their title. The Los Blancos were trailing by a 47th minute goal by Bruno Cesar, after the first half did not produce any.

There were quite a few good chances wasted during the course of the game, though it really took something special from the La Liga giants to complete a superb comeback, in which they scored a couple of goals in as many minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo started it off when he scored from a superb free-kick against his former club in the 89th minute of the match.

Further, summer addition Alvaro Morata, who was brought back to the Bernabeu, scored a minute later to give Real all three points.

Zidane would have really been impressed by the way his team responded and eventually recovered, after going a goal down in the early stages of the second period, with his changes coming off good.

On the other hand, the visitors nearly managed to hold on to their lead as well, though the Portugal international did the trick once again for his side.

Real will be happy that the attacker made his comeback just recently, as his presence played a major role in turning things around in the tie, on the night.

It will be interesting to see how things go from here, with Zidane hoping to win more silverware and possibly retain this title as well.
