Post Match Press Conference: Antonio Conte Talks About Chelsea’s Performance Against Swansea City, Including John Terry Injury

West London side Chelsea managed to earn a point at the Liberty Stadium, as Diego Costa scored a brace to keep his side in the match. The Blues failed to win the match and go on top of the Premier League points table on goal difference, yet it is just the start of the new season and there is still plenty of time.

The west Londoners had started off positively with the Brazilian born attacker giving them the lead in the first half. Despite that, they failed to capitalize on the advantage and eventually lost a couple of goals in the second half, in the space of three minutes.

However, the former Atletico Madrid man helped his side recover once again and earn a point from the game, which would have pleased Conte, though his perfect win record did not last.

Further, there was an injury to skipper John Terry and the extent of which was not known, with the fans awaiting their manager’s verdict, as their team gets set to face off against Merseyside outfit Liverpool next.

The Reds are in sublime form, after beating reigning champions Leicester City 4-1 at Anfield and will not be an easy opponent.

Keeping that in mind, Conte stated certain facts about his side’s performance in his post match press conference and gave an update on the injury as well. He said,

“Chelsea deserved to win as we created many chances and were dominating, but went from 1-0 to 1-2 in two minutes”

Also, he added that it was a great reaction by his team to going behind but it is a couple of points that they lost.

Also he said that his team should do better than they did for the first Swansea goal but that it was a foul on Cahill for the second.

“It was a mistake by the referee for the second goal conceded but he is not complaining as this can happen to both sides.”

“Terry’s ankle injury will be assessed tomorrow and he cannot say now if the captain will make the Liverpool game.”

“Today Diego Costa showed fantastic behaviour to control himself as he took a lot of kicks during the game.”

“Conte says referees must permit Diego Costa to play his football.”
